I don't think I'll ever live my dream of playing Jackson guitars..

I've been checking out guitar prices for various things off and on throughout the day. I figure I'm not going to be a guitar god and be handed guitars left and right anytime soon, so I'll need to buy my guitars for quite a while longer. It amazes me how much you have to spend just to get a decent guitar nowadays. This rant is mainly about Jacksons. I love Jacksons. I've loved Jacksons for years. I've always dreamed of playing Jackson guitars. One of my main stage guitars is a Jackson. Now I don't think that dream will be coming true if Fender keeps pricing them straight out of the market. These following quotes are coming from guitarasylum:

Jackson KV2 - $2599 to $2999
Jackson KV2T - $2999-$3999

****ing three thousand dollars for some King Vs? That's beyond Gibson range. I remember being able to build a CUSTOM guitar for less than that, and it was even a seven stringer. The stock guitars used to sell for $1200. I seriously doubt that parts have seriously raised in price, so why the markup? If this continues, I only hope that Jackson factory builders are getting paid out the ass.

And just what the hell kind of options do you have to put on that KV2T that would raise the price by a grand? It's a ****ing string-thru guitar!!

Granted, these are MSRP's. If the MSRP's look this horrible, I don't even think I want to know what the regular sale prices are..

Looking at these prices as well as finding extremely limited options for Ibanez guitars (why not make an alder 7 string? or more mahogany bodied ones?), I'm beginning to stray towards Dean or Carvin or something. I dunno.

But alas, the dream shall never be. And I am bummed.

BS. Completely. Check out http://www.vwallguitars.com, they'll hook you up with one for less than 2000!

I just scored a killer RR1 on eBay for >1100, as well. If I can get one, you can too!

To be honest I'm considering a mahogany neck and body neck-through DC127 by carvin with a Floyd. I hear nothing but good things about them.

Re: I don't think I'll ever live my dream of playing Jackson guitars..

I think your USA's can be had for under 2,000 in most music stores. I got mine on sale for 1,100 - and my recollection is that it was listing for 1600 at the time (2 years ago). Helps to live in an area where they aren't all that popular, tho. I had to agree to another child to get it, tho.

Deadskin... so, the cat's out of the bag, eh? That's gonna be killer I think. I stumbled across a pawn shop Professional for 250. I almost bought it just because I'm gassing for an RR and I don't have no G's to lay down for a USA, nor can I really justify it either.

Re: I don't think I'll ever live my dream of playing Jackson guitars..

y'know, for some reason a while ago I was really diggin' the USA Phil Collen Signature jackson. That's a pretty cool guitar.

Yup...it's out of the bag now, just no official thread until I get it and take pics! Then, you'll all get a full review of it. I say you pick up that Pro! They aren't bad guitars IMO, expecially if you just want a pointy metal guitar.

Re: I don't think I'll ever live my dream of playing Jackson guitars..

I was thinking maybe painting it "desert camoflauge." That would be so hideously ugly so as to be cool.

Re: I don't think I'll ever live my dream of playing Jackson guitars..

I love Jacksons too and own 2 1994 Dinky's.... the imported models. Love them!!!! I wish i could really afford the USA Jacksons but i find when i get up into the USA Price Range there is other guitars i would buy before the Jacksons.....

Sometimes you can pick up cool used Older Jacksons and Charvels.... I bought a 1986 Model 1 for $200Canadian

Guitarasylum charges list price in many cases, the shop is so high profile they can get away with it. But I guess with that name the prices can be insane and people will accept it :D:D:D

And Yes, there was a 15% list price increase last year. The FIRST price increase in almost 10 years. CS prices however DIDN`T go up with this increase, you can still get a seven string for under 2k if you don´t go nuts on specs and sparkle ;)

You want a REALISTIC price on a Jackson? Listprice -30-40%, depending on dealer.....means KV2s start at around 1500, New, with warranty, case, case candy, and a bit of swag from some dealers :headbang:

Hey Nate:

1. Never say never.

2. Never pay full price for ANYTHING. ;) Hunt ebay and other sites! Do some homework!

Slayer, I am consumed with jealousy. That axe is one my Must Have Before I Die List. I assume you'll throw down some sound clips to?

How do you define decent? You are referring to high end guitars that should be falling firmly into the exceptional category at their price point. An Ibanez SA160 iis a decent axe. A lot of the Schecter stuff is very cool. A Les Paul Studio is usaully in the $1200 street range and is a very nice instrument.

Get a Warrior (WR-1), has the Invader and Fullshred stock, an oiled neck, and 24 frets ;)

:earl:

How could you possibly recommend a Warrior when his sights are on the coolest guitar Jackson makes?!?!?!? :laugh2:

Re: I don't think I'll ever live my dream of playing Jackson guitars..

It has an oiled neck, it has 24 frets, and it has an Invader/ Fullshred combo. All features NOT available on an RR without modding it or going custom shop...

Form is secondary to function ;)

I agree with you 100%.... except for the Warrior. I love funky shaped guitars, but that thing has GOT to go.

Any idea why they haven't made a 24 fret Rhoads? It can't be out of respect for his traditional design, as they made that Roswell Rhoads thing awhile back.

Hey hey...I actually like the Warrior alot :smack: :laugh2:

Have you ever seen a 24 fret RR with 2 bucker? It looks weird as hell.

Re: I don't think I'll ever live my dream of playing Jackson guitars..

Make it a single-bucker model, or put a single coil in the neck slot.

Wait until Summer NAMM, that´s all I´m gonna say ;)

Or if you GAS is too much and you can live with a bolt on, the JS30 Rhoads HAS 24 frets and has been available for almost 2 years ;)
