I'm not sure why I've waited this long to get one. I guess I've always thought I'd like Strats more but after two days with this guitar I can safely say that I like it more than any Strat I've played or owned. Yeah, I know they're different and they do different things and I'm not selling my Strat but I find as a whole the Tele seems more useable.
This was my first internet purchase and I was sweating it from the day I sent off the money order. Luckily the guy I bought it from was top notch, sending it out, well packed, the same day he received the money. He described it well and it sounds and plays exactly like I thought it would, maybe even better. I hope this doesn't start an internet buying addiciton. :smack:
It's a '62 AVRI, I had my eyes set on a Surf Green one but when this one came up used I couldn't pass it up. The black is classy don't ya think? He had rewired it modern and added a set of brass saddles. Short of that it's completely stock and I think it's going to stay that way. The guitar sounds great across all three switch positions.
The 7.25" radius on the board is interesting, he raised the action a little to keep it from fretting out on bends. This was one of the things I didn't know if I'd like on this model but now that I've tried it, it's a non-issue. It plays really well, I had it delievered to work so I couldn't plug it in which allowed me to focus on how the guitar played rather than how it sounded. I think the guitar exceeded my expectation in terms of playablility, it's so smooth.
Finally, a couple of pics!
