I finally bought a Tele!!

I'm not sure why I've waited this long to get one. I guess I've always thought I'd like Strats more but after two days with this guitar I can safely say that I like it more than any Strat I've played or owned. Yeah, I know they're different and they do different things and I'm not selling my Strat but I find as a whole the Tele seems more useable.

This was my first internet purchase and I was sweating it from the day I sent off the money order. Luckily the guy I bought it from was top notch, sending it out, well packed, the same day he received the money. He described it well and it sounds and plays exactly like I thought it would, maybe even better. I hope this doesn't start an internet buying addiciton. :smack:

It's a '62 AVRI, I had my eyes set on a Surf Green one but when this one came up used I couldn't pass it up. The black is classy don't ya think? He had rewired it modern and added a set of brass saddles. Short of that it's completely stock and I think it's going to stay that way. The guitar sounds great across all three switch positions.

The 7.25" radius on the board is interesting, he raised the action a little to keep it from fretting out on bends. This was one of the things I didn't know if I'd like on this model but now that I've tried it, it's a non-issue. It plays really well, I had it delievered to work so I couldn't plug it in which allowed me to focus on how the guitar played rather than how it sounded. I think the guitar exceeded my expectation in terms of playablility, it's so smooth.

Finally, a couple of pics! :D

The black really brings out the double boud binding. Hope she sounds as good as she looks - good luck with her!

Uhh…How about "It's freakin' gorgeous"?

(I would've said "It's ejaculacious," but I'm not sure if that's against forum policy. :))

I love butterscotch blond, but I wonder if I'd like this even better. Well done, my brother. Well done.

Very nice first Tele!

A lot of people become a Tele convert as soon as they try them. Depends on what you're looking for. They're a bit more hardcore than Strat.

Agreed. They're more raw. I think of a Tele as a working man's Strat. This is not to take anything away from the Strat, because a Strat is an awesome thing, but the Tele is no-nonsense every step of the way. I'd own 29 Teles, if I had the money and the space.

Like the man says, 'Gimme a toothbrush and a Tele and I'm good to go.'

Re: I finally bought a Tele!!

Thanks for the kind comments. :beerchug:

I just played it for about 45 minutes while watching the end of the Penn State game and man does this guitar sound great. I had it run through my Victoria Regal with some heavy trem and my Mesa F-50 on the clean channel both at the same time. What a great sound through the neck pickup just finger picking some odd and end chords and scales, sort of a jazzy sound.

The neck pickup is nice and full but clean and not muddy at all. The bridge pickup has that Tele bite but it has enough low end to end not sound thin and brittle, the guitar is really well balanced. Like I said this thing is really exceeding my expectations.

Re: I finally bought a Tele!!

That is sweet, I don't think I would have thought of that color combo, but I really like it. Enjoy!!
