Or you can check out the Prestige Heritage Standard, made in Korea with final setup in Canada and real Duncans, a JB and a 59. Great guitars although they tend to run a little on the heavy side, like my old LP Custom.

Check out Heritage Guitars. Made in Kalamazoo Michigan in the old Gibson factory by old Gibson factory workers. Awesome guitars.

A Les Paul Studio is all the Les Paul you really need....

I kind of wish someone would've told me this when I bought my Standard Plus back in 2001. It's a cool guitar and sounds pretty good, but I never bonded with it the way I have with other guitars. Case in point, I yanked the electronics back in 2012 and haven't gotten around to putting them back yet. Eventually I'll wire up the Jimmy Page harness and install the '59/Custom Hybrid, but it just hasn't been a priority.

Honestly though, while I appreciate the advice now, I somewhat doubt I would've listened back then...

I like the Studios myself...or even the thinner Smartwoods (the one before the 'green leaf' versions). They at least look a little different than the LPs everyone else plays (and are much more comfortable).

The neck binding feels way nicer. I've never played a Gibson with an unbound neck that was even close to feeling the same. The rest after that is bling

Very cool! I miss my quilted Standard, I got it barely used for a stupid low price, unfortunately it along with most of my other guitars/equipment and my YZ250, was a casualty of my long unemployment phase last year. I'm rebuilding with a few select items now and another Prestige is on the short list.

Heritage are great guitars too, although coming in at a higher price point that is more in line with Gibson. Depends on what you are looking for and your budget.

Heritage certainly makes excellent guitars, but you are getting into a higher price range. I heard Heritage was bought recently and are going to ramp up production more...no idea if that is good or bad (a friend who visited the factory told me).

The workers at Gibson bought it. They're going to tell Henry it's the new factory, give him a big office, and hire teenagers to pretend to build every crazy idea he comes up with. Meanwhile, they'll make normal Gibsons in Memphis and Nashville.

Never saw an LP with a straight 10" radius

I, for one, owned a '68 LPC Black Beauty Fretless Wonder.

I am not sure, as my friend who went to the factory couldn't remember. He did believe that it wasn't a company currently in the MI industry.

It's Gibson so anything is possible. I've seen the radius vary but usually after a refret and generally closer to 14".

Cool article. I will say that my friend stated the current factory workers were a little worried and advised him to buy an older Heritage if he was looking in the next year or so. But after reading the article it doesn't seem that the investors will radically change things.
