I got me a new amp...

Anywho, I decided that I wanted something besides the KRANK in the studio the track with...something that would cover more ground, whilst still being capable of rip-your-face-off gain.

And here's what I got:

That's a beauty right there. So many knobs and switches it makes my head spin. Sounds friggin killer when ya get it all set right though ;). Now it's time to start sellin some stuff.

a wise choice!

i'm torn between a Mark IV an Uber or waiting on the Splawn Nitro. my dual recto isn't going anywhere but another flavor would be great!

enjoy it man!!!

Re: I got me a new amp...

Very nice amp. I'd love to add one too. I bet it would compliment the Recto nicely.

Which Krank do you have, the Revolution?

Re: I got me a new amp...

You got it...mine's the revolution. Never really been too big on the krankenstein. Can't wait till I get the chance to do a test-run with this thing in band practice. Gonna have to wait till I get my weber attenuator to do any clips.

Its amazing, I've actually got a matching head-and-cab for once. Too bad I'm probably gonna end up selling my mesa cab to fund this one though.

I got this, used, but in friggin mint condition for $1081.42 including tax. Cover/footswtich included. Pretty good find if I say so myself :fing2:.

Re: I got me a new amp...

Might I ask what one of these sounds like compared to a mark 2c+?

That's the only Mesa that I have a lot of experience with (my dad owns one).

Can't say I've ever tried one to be honest...I've only had about a half hour of time to play with this one as well. In order to play this thing, I either have to A) wait for a band practice, B) wait till my parents get outta the house, or C) wait for my attenuator to come in. Joy of joys :smack:.

The anticipation is pretty intense ;).

Re: I got me a new amp...

Well I guess congratulations are in order. I haven't had a bad Mesa experience yet (although, like I said, I haven't played very many of their new amps).

Re: I got me a new amp...

The Mark IV can get tones somewhat similair to a markII series, but has a whole lot more gain available. It is a little thinner and less flubby sounding to my ears as well.

Re: I got me a new amp...

Somthing about this amp though...all the little switches, knobs, and features here and there really help to justify the cost of the purchase. Like.. the graphic EQ is footswitchable, there's a stereo option for the FX loop, the footswitch bolts onto the back for transportation, and doubles as protection for the tubes. The front grille comes off, and there's an extra 12AX7 preamp tube in a clip off to the side. Its got a silent recording out as well...So I might get the chance to do some clips with this thing before the attenuator comes in...

I mean, ****. Its a little overwhelming to be honest. Real different from the meat-and-potatoes setup of the KRANK. This one'll take some tweaking ;).

Re: I got me a new amp...

I'm tellin' ya man, when you decide that it's really a POS, I'll take it off your hands ;).

Yow trade me Mesa cab housings.

I was going to ask if it was new or used, because it's incredibly clean. At just over a grand, that's a great deal! I saw one on ebay a few days ago go for $2000. Great find. :bigok:

Re: I got me a new amp...

ahhhh nothing like going back to my glory days with my old band (that I have left because they were pricks and hated all the music I liked) and gigging with the combo version of that and a MkIII combo as well. I personally liked the MkIII a little better because of the less controls, but that's just me. That is one sick amp, sorry to say, but it will take you FOREVER to find your settings. Nothing like gigging with one of those babies, such a thick sound. Good luck with it bro!

Re: I got me a new amp...

Re: I got me a new amp...

Got a lot of bases covered with this little setup. On the right is my Krank revolution 1, my 1968 fender showman reverb, and a cheap-as-hell elk 2X10 cab that I got for 90 bucks and swapped the speakers for some eminence lil buddies.

On the left, my Mark IV, my Hughes & Kettner edition tube 20, and my Ear candy 2X12 loaded with an eminence governor and a screamin eagle.

Of course I've got the boogie 4X12...but I really don't need it, I never use it, and its takin up a lot of studio space. So...off it goes ;).

I <3 my setup.
