I got the Edwards today.

A strange combination of models in this one...but I will get to that later. I really dig the finish on this one. It's from the "lacquer top series". The finish is almost like that of a faded (minus the silly fade), but it is shiny. A very thin finish, Walnut Brown in color. Fret work is better than on my other two Gibsons, binding is nearly flawless, fit an finish are excellent. There is no filler around the MOP inlays, and the logo is a nice MOP, not cheap looking at all. The whole guitar is lacquer finished. Nickel hardware, JB/'59 pickups stock, and LONG tenon. When they say long, they certainly mean it! I changed the strings just so I could see what they meant by it. I had to look very hard to see the tenon. It is there, it's just that the pocket is so tight you really have to look to see the different grain patterns. The tenon extends almost to the end of the neck pickup route. It makes the neck tenon on my Standard look puny! It's filled in nice and tight too, unlike the Gibson tenons. The body looks like one
piece. Now for the weird part. This guitar is a '61RI copy, similar neck joint, but it has the 90 degree neck joint like the '70s SGs. I couldn't figure out why it felt strange...finally noticed. The neck on this thing is great too. It is less chunky than either of my Gibsons. I like it better because of that fact. Any way, here are some quick photos (pardon the fingerprints):

Re: I got the Edwards today.

Better than what I already have? I'm not sure. The neck joint kind of threw me. I'll give it a few days to make the final decision.
