I bought these! I started rummaging through the house a month or so ago and started putting stuff on eBay that I've had for years and years, and knew I'd never use or get to building like models, some vintage tubes etc... Wow! I made way more than I thought I would and since I put almost all of the cash towards the family bank account, when I brought up getting these two guitars if I sold the 3100, the Mrs. was fine with it.
First the Agile AL-2000. THIS is the color I wanted an AL-3100 in, but when I saw the spalted one for that price, I had to pull the trigger. When I saw this on eBay for something like $175 or best offer, I offered $150 shipped. When they accepted my offer, I figured "oh god, this must be a dog." Holy...I can't believe they don't charge a grand for these guitars. It plays like a dream, it's all mahogany both neck and body, and the pickups actually sound great. I'm keeping the neck pickup, and I'm fighting with myself over whether I'm going to change the bridge--it sounds that good. My brother has a Dimarzio dual sound that said he would give me if I wanted to go that way, and I may try it but I've got a Custom 5 (thanks, you know who you are!) that I will try in it as well as the A2P I'm getting back next week from someone who I thought was going to buy it. I'm not going to say it plays like a Gibson because it plays like an Agile, which I've taken quite a liking to. I WILL say that it is as comfortable as my real Gibson, and it plays just as easy. I am blessed that I got this guitar for $150. I told the guys I bought it from that I feel like I stole it. Even the wood on the back of the guitar is gorgeous. It is nicer in person than in the pics. It is a wicked, wicked guitar. Those dang fingerprints don't show in person. Stupid camera. :cool2:
Next is the Jay Turser Serpent. Again, this guitar looks so much better in person. This one was new and I got it for $275 shipped. The pics make it look more like blue, but this guitar is purple as purple can be. The pickups are usable, but they gotta go. The action is fantastic, but the frets have sharp edges. I don't feel it when I'm playing, but if you run your finger down the sides, you could cut yourself if you press hard enough. The low E sounds like it has a natural chorus to it, lol, and the D string buzzes on the 12th fret. Otherwise it is a beautiful instrument, and it is not as thick as the Agile and a bit lighter. I emailed Jay Turser and they told me that this is a mahogany neck and body with a maple cap, although it is probably a very thin cap like the Agile 3100s. It is no Gibson, and it is no Agile, but it is a fun guitar to play and the tuners are stiff as heck and keep it in tune no matter how I bend the strings. When I sell a few more things from around the house, I'll bring it to the tech to get a nice setup and I'll try all those pickups in this one as well. I'm figuring I'm going to end up with the Duncans in these guitars and I'll sell the Dimarzio I get from my bro to get a neck pickup for this Turser. Anyway, these guitars will keep me busy and happy for quite a long, long time. Here's my pics and one stock pic of the Jay Turser Serpent guitar.
