I hate fedex.

Re: I hate fedex.

Wonder about that multipoint inspection SW advertises

Hmmm

They sold me a " in store demo " PA with full manufacturer's warranty
But the manufacturer said that's not true
I did manage to talk them into providing the warranty though.

Re: I hate fedex.

Makes you wonder what they could have done to screw up metal parts designed to survive the forces that exist in a racing motor.
Run it over with a huge lift truck?

NEVER write FRAGILE on anything. Got it straight from the UPS dude. In Dallas (Mesquite, actually), they load the truck with all those on the bottom, then stack 8ft of **** on top of em.

Re: I hate fedex.

That’s horrible. I always prefer fedex because our UPS guy is a ****** and yelled at my elderly mother because he insisted he delivered a package that was either never delivered or misplaced.

We’re one of fedex’s last stops of the day. After seeing this, i’m having second thoughts about whether i should really rely on fedex. I’m sure both companies have their both good and bad moments. Stories like this are so frustrating. Glad to hear something is being worked out.

I hate fedex.

It really depends on your situation locally. I'm in the Bay Area and USPS is IME the best of the three. When I lived in Brooklyn it was terrible.

UPS once lost a Chapman Stick of mine that I couldn't play to save my life. I had fortunately kept the receipt and I got reimbursed. I bought a vintage strat with that money so sometimes there's a silver lining to incompetence [emoji4]

+1 Definitely a local issue. I never really had a problem with USPS, but since moving to a new zip code, my USPS deliveries are getting put through the ringer. Even if marked as *glass, I'm getting crushed boxes.

My local UPS hub throws packages onto the conveyer belt. Chicago Music Exchange shipped a guitar out to me with a shockwatch sticker and it indicated rough handling. Luckily no damage. There's a local UPS store that is second to none though.

Fed Ex is the best option in LA if you want decent pricing and good handling IMO.

The third fret Inlay on my Gibson started popping out about two months after I received it.

The multi point inspection is worthless. Just an overview of the guitar at that split second. We end up being the last QC.

Re: I hate fedex.

FedEX is the only carrier I've ever had that offered to wait around and help document the damage to a package so I'll give them credit for that.

Sad to see what happened to that guitar, all that work to create and it becomes firewood. It used to be the standard I was told was a 30" drop on any package was the norm, they absolutely WILL fall that far off the conveyor belts. A friend who worked for a carrier told me it's much worse, they throw the packages on to the top shelf of the truck and they often fall back on to the floor. Companies like Nortel have such stringent packaging requirements that it seemed like more work went in to the packaging than the product in it. It's really amazing anything gets anywhere in 1 piece. Don't even get me started on the airlines.

Re: I hate fedex.

Fed Ex once dropped a Fender Prosonic I had bought off a conveyor at OHair. They swept up the remains reboxed it and sent it on!!
Think those boneheads can break a steel ball with a rubber hammer in a sandbox!!

Re: I hate fedex.

They should ship the guitar in a hard-shell guitar case if you ask me.

;>)/

Had Fed EX kill guitars boxed with bubble wrap and in a hard case. Heck even had the hardcase itself damaged by them. Like i said before think those guys can break bout anything!

They don't call em bag smashers fer nuthin, ya know. And I repeat NEVER write FRAGILE on anything. "This end up" isn't quite as bad. And we have to PAY for this chit? And who pays our time and homicidal tendencies to straighten it out???? I just received the first undamaged box ever. But that's coz the US Military packed and sealed it. Wow. Undamaged MREs. Wow.
I went threw 2 knives and couldn't open it. I went Jimi with the machete and got it half open. If our guitars were shipped that way, it might cause world peace. . .

I don't believe they do it as implied. I'm sure there are a couple points of inspection, like does the headstock say Gibson and is it a sunburst finish ect,,,,.

Re: I hate fedex.

Fedex must have broken into the box to steal the candy bag!

Fedex is weak around here. They use contracted drivers and the service is horrible.

UPS is great here.

USPS delivers for Amazon. I swear that they drive by and throw the boxes at my front door. They NEVER knock.

Re: I hate fedex.

Totally hub dependant. The Roswell UPS hub here is the worst. FedEx has been stellar by comparison.

My local post office among the worst, but I had the same mail woman for over ten years. She was great but retired last year.

What kinda price Sweetwater offer on the damaged one?

Re: I hate fedex.

They just finally returned it. After talking with the tech the last one had a twisted neck as well as the kill pot not working. They wanted me to try something else. The first 2 weren't their fault but they are saying that the killpot worked when they inspected it before shipping.
My sales guy said they are having a good bit of problems with gibson and epiphone lately. He said they have been getting a decent bit of bad fenders as well.

Really sorry. Are you gonna try to find it locally or try something else?

Yeah, right. How can we Troubles All Over The World with guitars? Shipper, shipper, shipper.
