It is a great pedal and the one had run since July for me with no issues. When it died Duncan was VERY gracious and took care of it for me. They did not have to do so at all and went the extra mile. But, now my second one, that I bought less than a month ago died.
Yes, I have and use 2 SFX-03 pedals. I used them on a Furman pedalboard with the power strip designed by Furman for the pedalboard. My effects chain is: guitar> tuner> Silver Dragon> SD1> SFX-03> SFX-03> ED1> DD6> Reflector> amp. I have the SD1 set for a slight boost, the Silver Dragon is unity gain. I use it for its' unique rhythm distortion (almost fuzz-like). I sometimes use the one SFX-03 to layer on the second SFX-3 but I am not hitting either with any real boost. I have run other pedals in the place of the SFX-03 for years in this or similar combinations and have had no trouble. I do not have all pedals on at any one time. The delay is on a fair bit, the use of 2-3 od/distortion pedals for layering is not real uncommon but there should not be an issue here.
The "new" SFX-03 is not generating a signal at all. Dead on both channels (LED lights). I had the board fully back together for less than a week this way at this point.
Is there something unusual about this pedal I did not see in the manual, or on the web site Is there something about not using it as I would other pedals in this fashion? As it is labled as a "preamp" pedal I would expect it would handle this fine.
The one that quit this time I should be able to exchange it at the local store (it is a hour one way is all), but as this is the second of these to die on me I am a bit worried I am either doing something wrong or there are issues here. Is it that I can't layer these as I would other pedals here? I have sent this same request to customer support to see if there is an error in my set-up I am not aware of here. I am sure they will be, as they always are for me, gracious and helpful. I am just puzzled as I do not want to kill another if it is something I am doing here.
I really like this pedal and was very happy for the last week, thinking that with a fuzz and chorus I could maybe pull things out and be done (for now) with the board.
What am I missing? Any ideas here?
