I hate trying to choose pedals

ever been there?

cause if you have I know how you feel.

Right now I'm split between a Bad monkey made by Digitech and the Screamin' Blues made by them too. I'm also debating the Behringer pedals which are pretty cheap... but they have plastic casings...

its a pain isn't it....

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

Not really.

If I want something that I might not end up liking as much as I'd hoped, I return it and get something else.

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

i hate it too, i cant buy something unless im certain its exactly what i want, so i end up spending like a month, for every pedal, researching every possible option, going to try them out, read review on customer service and whether they last a long time, so much that it annoys me, but in the end i have exactly what i wanted

i normally do that, except with the chorus pedal which i need for my new band and stuff, but since it's £20 which is naff all money, and it sounds alright in sound clips, I am not fussed if i don't like it when it gets here.

I might mod My DS-1 thinking about it...

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

I'm not a fan of the low end Digitech or Behringer pedals I'd suggest trying to find an MXR Classic Overdrive (I believe GC sells em for like $40).

Other than that just look used for tubescreamers, blues drivers, etc. Quality over quantity sir! Your ears and wallet will thank you long term.

I should also mention trying out pedals don't buy blind try out anything and everything you can get your hands on regardless of price FIGURE OUT THE ACTUAL TONE YOU WANT.

then post what it is and we can suggest more cost effective alternatives.

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

i'm torn right now between a Hall of Fame and a Dispatch Master! :scratchch

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

I heard good things about Bad Monkey. It kinda ranks up there with the DS-1 for value.

Plz avoid berhinger pedals. don't even waste your time. the first time you step on it you'll go, "what was i thinking?"

the major thing that puts me way off is the plastic construction anyway due to the fact I'm quite a heavy footed person and normal kill crap when i stomp on an effect. lol

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

Right now I should buy a tuner pedal. But God knows I don't want to buy a tuner pedal, I want another overdrive.

I hate it too. :D

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

Classic Overdrive sounds better than both of the Digitech pedals. It works great with the Classic Distortion.

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

To many options. To many pedals. To much to think about. It all gives me a headache. I own 1 compressor, 1 overdrive, and a looper. Every time I think I might try something new I just don't like any of them. I know the reason. It's because in the end we really don't know what we like so much as we like what we know. I'm happy with my sound, it's not that complicated, and I'm not going to screw with my own head anymore.

When it comes to pedals, I try and research as little as possible before going in. Let's say I need a distortion: I'll grab my amp (it's portable) and my favorite guitar, and go to the shop, and plug every distortion pedal into that setup, to see what I like. I don't have the bias of the internet, the bias of friends, only my ears. That usually works for me. Then again, I'm lucky enough to have some really good stores around, with some really informed staff.

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

I hate to hijack the thread, but I have a BOSS OD3 and original Marshall Guv'nor I'm looking to sell if you'd be interested?

Let me know if you want anymore info mate! :D

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

I would go with a used boss super od or even a used bbe green screamer, I love my MXR Classic od and it was dirt cheap!!!

Re: I hate trying to choose pedals

I Listen to alot of YouTube clips and then read on forums about a particular product...I'm always reading and keeping up with whats new and what has been out there that works.
