I have a problem...

Re: I have a problem...

Upon further review, I seem to have missed a sentence in my first post: Dollar for dollar, I think I feel much more comfortable paying for a Fender than I do a Gibson. Why? I don't know.

Well, it might have something to do with the fact that they're completely different guitars.

Re: I have a problem...

i can't seem to allow myself to buy anything off the wall of a guitar shop. with all the custom builders around, warmoth and the like, a person can get twice the quality for about half the price in any style. so it doesn't say gibson or fender on it, i don't mind, and the work to complete it is like a continuing education in musical instruments. seems like nothing's inexpensive anymore but i'd rather pay $1200 for a guitar that i designed from the ground up rather than an off the wall "custom" fender or gibson costing twice as much, and exactly what's custom about them escapes me, and is it a good enough reason for the price increase? there will always be gibson lovers and fender lovers and lovers of other brands and i guess that is what makes the world go around. imagine angus young not playing a gibson.

Re: I have a problem...

Don't shop with your eyes, or the opinions of others. Hold onto your money, and start going to guitar shops. Spend half an hour with each one...even ones you've never considered. Wait until you get that feeling that you've found 'the one' and you'll know. It's when your heart starts racing and you forget all about price.....when it's more money, your mind says "who cares, find the money."
