they say if you place an order on something they don't have in stock, they will order it for you. how long does this normally take?

Yeah, I ordered a Jazz on Thursday Evening, got it Saturday Afternoon. Granted, I only live 25 miles away... Great service!

All of the answers above are correct in a way....
If I special order for you through Duncan, figure three to four weeks. You are somewhat at the mercy of their production schedule though which I can't control. If you order a standard item I normally would have in stock, chances are it is already in the pipeline somewhere since I make regular stock orders all the time.
One thing I can tell you for sure is that I won't sit on orders. I get them out to Duncan within one or two days of reciept. I can also request an expedite, but again, I am at the mercy of Duncan's production schedule.
One last point ... sometimes my website inventory lags behind what I might actually have on the shelf. Don't be afraid to write and ask about stock status.

I have to agree with everything thats been said so far.
I live in the UK, and of about the 4 orders I've placed with Blackrose, not 1 of them has taken over 4 weeks to get to me, and 3 of those weeks was waiting for a set of the Antiquity Strat Pickups to come into stock! I can't fault John (Blackrose) in any way, shape or form

John's prices are the best, and the service is top shelf. I called a while back to order a few pups, and he was on his cell phone driving. He pulled off the road to take my order. I had my pups in 2 days. I wouldn't buy from anyone else.

If you're in a huge hurry, Lew has several Duncans in stock. Guitar Heaven in TN is pretty easy to deal with as well. They've got a nice inventory. And, I'll back up all the nice things said about John. He's pretty good at getting things expedited from SD.
