Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

:laugh2: I'm sorry Scott, another wrong guess

B_Bent, That's horrid thing to do to a LP, doing that to Thursday would be like commiting suicide, almost ;)... the worst thing is that the one on the pics is a real 59 Burst that some ass modded... I almost start to cry when I see that pic

Larry, you're on the right way man! I could almost say that you're right. It just depends on what you mean with the word "old". A wild guess or did you see it was a Fender on the serial number? Congrats!!   :D

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

Props to you guys for waiting and guessing!! :D

No more waiting now....

I finally got my Marshall AVT100 combo sold, after having it up for sale for almost a half year. At the same time as I got it sold a Tweed Pro Junior popped up on the same finnish adsite. I've been wanting a tweedish amp for sooo long. Love the tone and love the look.

It had a Celestion V10 in it. But I got it cheaper without the speaker, awsome. Cause to get a more tweedish tone out of this little thing it needs a Jensen style speaker.

So today I ordered a new Jensen P10Q and new TAD tubes all around. And of course, I'm gonna stick a "the tweed preamp tube", TAD 12AY7, in there to awaken the tweed tone even more... :D

The dating says "EB", which means February 1994 in fender language. In 1994 these came un laquered but this one has been laquered afterwards. I can tell by the small laquer spots on the metalplate on the back.

I've only played it through the 2x12" Greenbacks in my Bluesbreaker combo yet so I haven't really heard the "original" Pro Junior in it. It sounds very nice through the Greenbacks though... but as expected more British and marshally.

Has too much background noise as it is now... But I'm really thinking that it's the tubes that needs a change so I'm expecting it to dissapear or get lower after I've installed the new tubes.

Sounds AWSOME with my Tele! Haven't really had time to test it that much with Thursday yet so.

Congrats! Nice looking lil amp..

TBH tho..if you want true tweed tone...you've got the wrong power tubes...the EL84 Jrs don't really sound like old tweed champs at all to my ears.

You may find you prefer those GBs too...especially with those tubes.

oh yeah..clips!

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

I must say that I am not disapointed by the suprise... Needless to say that: WE WANT CLIPS ! tele through the fender going through the greenbacks! have fun with it, lots of fun!

How about the tele with the fender on one panned left and the Paul through the marshall panned right. Now were talking.

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

I'm not much for little tweed/vintage amps myself but hey, nice score and congrats!

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

nice!!!

i think you'll be happy with that...i suggest JJ's but i haven't tried them all!!

NEW STUFF ROCKS!!!

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

Thanks alot guys! So far I'm digging it more with the tele straight in but when I can't crank it I need an OD... I love the cleans even though they never are really clean clean in this amp.

You asked for some recordings... had time to do a recording today and even though the PJ is need of new tubes I thought I'd post it for you guys :D

It's a long one with Tele -> TS808 -> Pro Junior. Different styles, some whacky slide playing ;) to show a little of the tonal palette of this amp. I didn't use any backings or metronome so please excuse my sloppy playing and timing issues on this one ;) Hope you get a little picture of it.

I don't always like the TS808, kinda a love and hate relation ship with it. It would be better if it cut a little less bass, I think :)

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

I know JeffB, It's the EL84 tubes that makes if differ most from the real tweeds... But I'm still hoping to get it more tweedish with the new preamp tubes and the Jensen will probably make it drift more towards the "American Sound" as well.

I couldn't have gotten a tweed clone for this price, maybe a DIY kit if I was lucky... but I won't have time with building one this autumn so I'll try to makes this as tweedish as possible :)

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

Those are cool amps! I actually prefer the way they sound into a larger cab, especially an open back 2x12, but the 10" isn't too bad. One of the cool things about a PJ is there are so many mods out there for them. Seeing as you've had so much fun modding your Burst, maybe you can try some?

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

Any thoughts on the tone in the soundclip? It's low volume recording since that's the easiest way to do it when others are in the house ;)

Ratherdashing, got any mod page or mod suggestions for me?

Maybe not a mod soundwise but the plastic "onboard" input jack is quite worn and sloppy so I ordered a switchcraft jack at the same time as the speaker and the tubes. I'll probably wire that one up to get a nice solid input jack.

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

Soundclips are pretty good for low volume. I can hear the possibilities when you get the Jensen in there and some new new tubes (probably) and crank it a bit. Good score. Lots of people love those amps.

Re: I have a suprise for you guys...

Exactly my thoughts as well, it's in big need of new tubes.

Thanks for listening!
