I have an idea for a youtube series.

Re: I have an idea for a youtube series.

Yeah. Plus it yields the opportunity to give away gear you don't really need, so I can finally use my Joyo RDB pedalboard that I have kicking around

Just throwing this out there, if someone has gear they don't really need what do you most often expect them to do with it?
A. Sell it themselves and gain money.
B. Pay money to ship it to somebody else as a donation with no guarantee that anything will come from it other than the vague promise of a potential youtube review.

I suspect a mix of both, actually. but some pedals don't sell very quick on the used market here, so I see giving it away as a viable option. plus I can explore and toy with those sounds.

Nobody is gonna invest money in shipping a garbage/broken pedal they don't want, when its free to throw it into a trash can.

If I wanna give away a pedal, I do it to someone I know, or know of. I don't ship it abroad to a stranger on a forum. Just sayin'...

Well I did manage to get a Danelectro French Toast for free, and that pedal served me well for years when I needed an octavia sound. I still have it around and it still works. I enjoy receiving pedals I have never heard of just to have fun with, because I like to explore sounds.

Re: I have an idea for a youtube series.

I have an idea...why not flip some of the pedals you already have instead of trolling for freebies?

That's the board you posted a month or so ago, right?

Or get the ball rolling by giving a couple of pedals away. The universe has a way of making things happen if you do something like that. Perhaps in this case, good things might come your way if you start the process by doing something for someone else.

Just a thought.

Re: I have an idea for a youtube series.

Are you going to use the vintage Strat you were given as the guitar for said YouTube review series?

Re: I have an idea for a youtube series.

I've given away pedals amps and guitars in the past--usually to kids who don't have any of those things...

Because we can sell them? or give them to a friend or some kid whos banging away at their guitar but can't afford anything? I have given away pickups, pedals etc for this. Hell, I even gave a 1960 cab so a new bar opening could have a full backline for bands (the owner I have known for years of course).

Alot of the pedals you want can be found cheap on the used market...why don't you have up $50 and go get 2-3 ****ty pedals locally? Like people said, if your reviews are any good, THEN people may want to send you their crap. Also, shipping to Aus is expensive as eff...it would be cheaper for me to just send you $20 to go find one locally. Which I am not.

Re: I have an idea for a youtube series.

Even if this dude is a noble, honest person, it's about 10 years too late to start a review on YouTube. The list of reviews is exhaustive, take your pick. We don't need another one.

Most reviews don't go in depth though, so I'd rather be different.

I've given away plenty of stuff that I wasn't using to people who could use it, but I'm not paying international shipping to give it away...

You should start by giving reviews of the pedals you already have. After seeing those, people may feel inclined to send you some stuff depending on how good or bad those reviews are.

I could, but then there is the problem of a decent camera angle to record said reviews.
