I have discovered the Epiphone Pickups have a lot of wax!!!

Re: I have discovered the Epiphone Pickups have a lot of wax!!!

I upgraded my MIC Epi Lucille with Tonerider Alnico II Classic N and Rocksong B humbuckers. What it gained on the Rock swings it lost on the Jazz roundabouts. Tonerider Alnico IV N and Alnico II Classic B models would have yielded more traditional results. (The Lucille was almost entirely maple. Its midrange needed warming up a fair amount.)

The lowest-cost/best tone solution, IME, is to get the Vintage Blues set and mod'em with an A4/A8 mag set for versatilty, or an A3/A2 mag set for Vintage-y vibe with clarity and harmonic complexity. HTH,

Thanks Kojak, it does help. I have several guitars with 59s already, and want something different but still affordable. I'm thinking about Toneriders, or Artec's new Milestones-they're based on Wolfgang Damm's Amber pickups. I'm still going to take your advice and try mag swaps in some of the 59s though. I appreciate the advice.
