Very different, and with the sole exception of the headstock shape I REALLY like it... :beerchug:

Re: I have finished Sporkaster 2

Thanks!

Headstocks are tricky. On this one I went for the minimum (well, almost) amount of wood to accomodate the tuners and make it usable in a hanging bracket.

Also you can't see it in the photos, but the fret slots don't come out of the ends of the 'board - they're CNC'd and stop about 2mm from the edge so there's just smooth wood all the way down the side of the fretboard.

Ah.. actually I did notice that, but assumed you´d just used the classic trick of slicing .5mm of wood off the edge and replacing it as "binding" after fretting. Keeps the tang a bit longer which helps prevent the fret end from lifting ;)

Re: I have finished Sporkaster 2

That's quite a neat way of doing it, but this is higher-tech. You do need a rather expensive CNC machine to do it though (not mine!).

Re: I have finished Sporkaster 2

Absolutely AWESOME!!! Love it, love it, love it!! When can I put my order in????

Re: I have finished Sporkaster 2

:D

I'm not sure I'll be selling any - just to cover costs this one would have to be £2000 - that's what, $3600 or so?

Re: I have finished Sporkaster 2

A pair of custom handwound Bulldog pickups - I told Hayden what I wanted them to sound like and what the guitar construction was going to be and he nailed it exactly. The neck his warm but defined in series and bright and jangly (without losing too much volume) in parallel, and the bridge is hot and thick without any sort of nasal sound. Also the Sustainiac, though that's not quite working yet - needs investigation as it was ok before final assembly.

The police are not allowed sandwiches because they have been interfering in the work of Nero Wolfe.

Re: I have finished Sporkaster 2

Wow. Thats pretty cool! I love that neck with no inlays. Great job!

Re: I have finished Sporkaster 2

Wait, is that another one or the finished version of the previous thread cause I remember the pickguard being gray, not black.

Regardless, I really like it, great shape, cool ideas and that's one amazing finish!

Re: I have finished Sporkaster 2

Nicely done indeed. My deposit check is in the mail.

Ta - but there are inlays - see the third picture. Two little MOP bars at the 12th fret.

Finished version - the pickguard still had its protective film on in those pictures.
