i have made an epic fail....

Re: i have made an epic fail....

either i have soldered the wrong wires or the thing seriously has one duff coil in it...

... or you have not connected the two coils together.

.at the moment, i have just twisted the red blue together (no metal connecting) but the PVC is touching.

PVC insulation is non-conductive. :chairshot

I am surprised that the pickup is giving any output at all. At this point, I cordially request photographs of your wiring.

If you have a DC resistance meter, check the individual coils. Expect approximately 11kOhms per coil.

Re: i have made an epic fail....

Thanks, JohnJohn.

The MM Motherbucker that I sold to LHS came to me in an pre-owned 1986 Ibanez RG410. (1xHB, 1xVol with push-push coil split.) It arrived wired with the white as ground, Blue and Black linked and Red as Hot. (I theenk.) On a guitar as basic as the RG, this made only one difference - i.e. When the HB was coil split, the coil nearer the neck stayed operational.

the black and red were linked, and the white is connected to something....

i'll get back into it in the morning and do what that diagram says....

Do you guys still want pics?

Re: i have made an epic fail....

It might get loud!

Pedantry Corner. That's coil split NOT coil tap. Few humbuckers come with true coil-tapping. Most of those are by Bartolini. :D

It Is loud and mega heavy and thats through my crappy amp.... wiat until college on Friday! :D it will sing :)

and I blame a lot of companies for infiltrating our minds with wording into getting us to think that coil slit is the real coil tap.....
