Re: I just bought a Squire Affinity for $340.00

Yes. About $200 too much.

Well, with the case, about 100-120 too much.

Re: I just bought a Squire Affinity for $340.00

I plan to install a sweet neck on this that has had new jumbo frets installed with my best levelling and crowing ever, and a new pickguard with DUNCAN pickups, and 7 way wiring.

I will dump and sell the original pickgouard and pickups , bridge, and neck, which should bring it down to around 250 or so.

I have been needing a G and G case for awhile now, and they aren't cheap.Plus I get 4 sets fo strings, a Leather Levys Strap at around 50 bucks new. and a few other goodies.

Not arguin' with that at all. Have you priced the 'affintiys' lately, especially the 20th Annv.? Crazy prices for such cheapo guitars. And this is indonesian to boot.
Can u break it down for me? I think the cases are right around 150.00 new shipped. Yeah, I think I may have overspent on this, thanks.

I love the Sin-celery and God bless part. I've had Sin-carrots before, but never Sin-celery.

My grandma had some sin-celery in her garden last year. It's got a slightly more bitter taste than standard celery.

Re: I just bought a Squire Affinity for $340.00

Are these the Squiers with the thin body or are those the Bullets?

If this isn't a joke thread, why not just buy a fender body on eBay?

Re: I just bought a Squire Affinity for $340.00

the 20th Annv. are the full sized bodys afaik. Not a joke thread.

no bodies curently for sale, just whole Affinities for about 150.00. I plan on a guitar that plays ten thousand times much better than your average stock affinity ,, and sounds decent to boot with my planned upgrades on pickups, custom neck, and upgraded bridge tremolo.

In reality I know I can get a superb playing el cheapo guitar outta this, and come away with a top level G & G case to boot, plus a few sets of strings and a awesome Levys strap.

I'll sell the crummy parts of it for about a hundred. Not that the body isn't crummy, but thats the platform I'll be working wiht.

If the necks, pickups, hardware and electronics on these guitars aren't good enough to go into one of these amazing builds that people do, what's so great about the bodies?

Absolutely nothing... At least the MIM stuff is usually pretty well built. The Affinity stuff isn't terrible for the kid in the garage just learning, but really, a MIM just has that step up in quality.

Re: I just bought a Squire Affinity for $340.00

go to h*&% you bas**%$s( I mean that in the most kind and loving way).

J/k of course. I mean for this to be a amazingly playable guitar, with my custom neck , bridge , and with a kind of different sound due to the pickups.

I guess what swayed me on this was the G & G case which i badly wanted , which are not that easy to get for less than 150.00.Plus all the cheap stock junk I can sell off the body, and install my custom neck and electronics .

I also totally did like the 4 sets of strings , cause I'm getting low on stock, and the Levys strap is a 50 dollar strap, and I need the string winder and,,and...stfu !!!(lol)

Honestly, you did get something good with that case. Those are super nice. The guitar is meh, generally. I have a philosophy about guitar price levels. You go to the bottom of the barrel, and your 'hit rate' of getting a good guitar is low. Step up in price, and you increase your hit rate of getting a really good guitar. The problem with the affinity stuff is the tuners are junky, the bridge is junky, the electronics are junky. You will spend a lot upgrading. If you have a good neck, getting a used pull body or a USACG or some such body with some real nice wood would be financially similar, and you're more likely to get a great guitar in the end.

It's your money, you spend it how you want! All this is just my opinions, and my experience.

The wood is junk too. I am aiming for a amazing player for the price, which sounds "different". I already have the custom neck, which is the entire reason for this whole deal besides the G&G case which i really want, and they are 150.00+.

I get my custom neck , and electronics and the wood is secondary to the playability I know i can get. trust me, I have spent this much on a body alone, so i am not shooting off sparks in the dark. The wood is crapwood, but can sound decent with good pickups. Again, I am after a excellent playing instrument for very little cost.

If you wanted something really different, I would go Danelectro. Those kooky old things are fun!

Re: I just bought a Squire Affinity for $340.00

to each there own i guess.. for 340 i would of bought a nice used dinky..

last squire i bought I paid 360 for but that was for something special with supurb quality. that of course is my near mint neck-thru stagemaster deluxe.. if it was a HSH instead of an HH config and not a reverse headstock... Things would be perfect. the fretwork is actually better than my main dk-2..

if squire had an absolute top of the line guitar, it would be the neck- thru stagemasters

-----------------------------------------
most people buy squires for the neck.. then replace the body but you seem to do just the opposite but hey your money

The wood is crapwood, but can sound decent with good pickups.
I will note that, decent 'pups will make any guitar with less than stellar wood, sound better

I am after a excellent playing instrument for very little cost.

if this was your goal, I would of looked elsewhere instead of squire. the exception would be a stagemaster deluxe.. seriously DOES NOT feel like a squire at all .now some run of the mill squires can and do play nice with bit of luck AND possibly some Work

i would of looked at a good used jackson dk-2 or since you have a neck.. id shop ebay for a nice body but each of us are different. I did an experiment awhile back and bought a used squire and upgraded/modded it. Turned out really well but still , i could of had a nicer dinky for the same cost

Neck and parts sell for $100?

$240 - $150 case = $90 for the body. ?

Re: I just bought a Squire Affinity for $340.00

For the record I love G&G cases as well, all my Fender and Fender style guitars are in one.
