I just counted

I have 28 guitars.

That is silly.

i think i have 35 guitars, including acoustics and one bass. i also have a banjo and mandolin, but those arent guitars. amps... i have three fishman acoustic amps, two bass heads, four bass cabs, three guitar cabs, three guitar heads, and at least 10 tube combos i can recall at the moment. the pa stuff takes up more room in the garage than the rest of my gear :D

I wish I was as good as a player as someone I imagine would have to be to own so many guitars. Oh well!

I am going to try and clean house a bit. But mostly so I can then upgrade. I've built most of the ones I have and that part I do love.

My amps though.....that's a great point. I have 2 heads, a big cab and a couple combos. Nothing too crazy. I played a Two Rock and I think I need it. :)

i can play, but i sure as hell dont need anywhere near that much crap. i gig with the same six guitars almost all the time, though things do come and go in the rotation. i dont buy things often, but i tend to hang on to em once i have em.

For longer shows, I switch between bringing one of my 2 main guitars, and one backup. For shorter ones, I might bring my Gibson, which is a little heavy to play a long show with. My other electrics I will record with (one has a synth pickup) or do some special one-off things with.

I have more guitars than I need, but none of the ones I'd be willing to sell are worth any money. I do use most of them for something or other. When I've sold good instruments in the past, I've always regretted it.

Pickups are a different story. I have more pickups than guitars but I still don't have the right pickups for some of them. I can make do, but the beast of acquisition rears its head within.

38

6 Les Pauls
6 Dean Cadillacs - all played in band
2 V's - Also for band
12 others - Mostly Strat / Superstrat styles, but includes a BC Rich Bich
3 Epiphone Semi-hollows
5 Acoustics (including 12st and Nylon)
4 Basses - One of which is for band

And one project that isn't functional yet...
And a defunct acoustic destined for a stage destruction

The most I've had at one time is 12. Not including basses. I have one bass now, 2 acoustics (selling one), 7 electrics but dwindling that down some too (2 listed for sale). Though I play in 3 bands, I just don't need that many. I can make do with my Les Paul, Frankenstrat (HH), Frankenstrat II (HSS) and Nashville Tele. My '88 Kramer doesn't get played out anymore, though I might change that.
