what do you guys think of these?

Re: i just grabbed an ernie ball axis

Dunno, why don't you send it over here so I can try it out? Just for a couple of years at least??? I'll pay for the return shipping.

SWEET, wanna trade it for a slightly used Wolfgang? LOL.

ha!
you're not going to believe this but i had the first wolfgang ever released...i had it a good full year before they were released to the public...noone on the net could believe i had one...it came from the first 100 prototypes that peavey sent to ed for him to test and ok so that they could give to their reps to get orders from...my buddy ran a daddy's junky music out here on the east coast and i was #1 on the list for a wolfgang...the rep gave him the guitar and he sold it to me...then ed halted production because he wante dto fine tune it and it took another year for them to be released...'

i also won an autographed wolfgang that was signed by ed and sent to me from 5150 studios in 1998...

I love 'em. The one I owned was the Best gutiar I have ever owned.... One of those things where you're like, why did I get rid of that.
What color is the one you got? If you got my old one I want it back :13:

But anyway, they are great guitars.
Rock On :smoker:

Natural.... Does it have the tremelo?

Re: i just grabbed an ernie ball axis

congratulations, you have my dream guitar, i have been gassing over one of these for the longest time, i dont even like EVH, i just LOVE these guitars, there the greatest period.

Re: i just grabbed an ernie ball axis

I have a natural quilt one. I love it. The only thing I don't like at times is the narrow neck as I have big hands, but it is a dream to play.

I made a few improvements- like straplocks, d-tuna, but most noticeably, I put a few coats of Tung Oil on the neck. The stock gunstock oil was drying out and getting dirty too quickly, even with minimal use. I rubbed in Formby's semi gloss tung oil, let it dry overnight, then rubbed it out with steel wool to dull it. It protects the neck alot better.

Re: i just grabbed an ernie ball axis

thats a cool story elvhfan. you know I so regret getting a Wolfgang now. I intentionally bought it because it was a "cheap" stage guitar, meaning under $2000. I'll never stray from PRS again. I just love those friggin maple necks though. Now I'm GASsing for a PRS Swamp Ash Special... or I may build something custom ala Warmoth, Carvin,,??

Re: i just grabbed an ernie ball axis

I had a purple one on my hands...then the bastardo sold it.
It was one of the EVH's...those DiMarzio's screamed and moaned like there was no end to it.
He had a SLO100 snakeskin top through an old Marshall 4x12 with 30 watts greenbacks.
Man he could not even wait one friggin day....I almost strangled him...they are so bloody rare around here.
The Axis is the same with a different pickup selector placement..I liked the EVH's better...natural place to switch from:D

Oh, i'm glad it's not mine, mine had the musicman tremelo, I'm not down with the floaters.
Awesome gutiar though, and Rock on :smoker:

Re: i just grabbed an ernie ball axis

I've got an axis sport. I love that guitar to death man. I live in the town where they are made, and went on a factory tour. they have a top notch shop!

the floyd rose on the axis' don't float...they're flush to the body...i hate floaters also...

Re: i just grabbed an ernie ball axis

I had an Axis hardtail for a while. Nice guitar. Great to look at! :laugh2:

I sold both it and my PRS CE-24 when I bought a $180. mid 80's single pickup MIJ Squire Strat, and put a 59 Trembucker in it...and it blew away both both guitars! :laugh2: Just better and livlier tone from the Strat.

Probably, I just like Fender style guitars better than anything else, because the Axis was a really nice guitar.....beautifully made and it had a real nice birdseye maple neck...though it could've been a bit wider.

My wife was bummed when I sold the Axis...the flame top was just so purty! :)

craig, i know what you mean...i SO wanted to like the wolfgang...but i just didn't...i used to play PRS for a while..GREAT guitars...but what bugged me were the bird inlays and how there's no "double dot" twelvth fret marker even on the side of the neck...it's silly, i know, but it was throwing me off...

Re: i just grabbed an ernie ball axis

Everyone's getting EBMM's except me!! :yell: :17:

Bah PRS...furniture guitars:D

My PRS is a gigging guitar. Mind you, there are plenty of PRS collecting 'blues lawyers' out there. Just pop over to birds and moons...

I love the EBMM EVH guitars. A friend has a red one, and every time I visit he has to pry it out of my hands. Perhaps the best shred instrument I've played.
