I know how to accessorize! LOL

So I have this Crate combo I use for parties and small gigs. Killer little amp but I like to get it off the floor so I can hear it better.

Wouldn't you know I found the perfect stand for it :jester:

nice work man. was that the badge from that amp or did you have it layin around?

Re: I know how to accessorize! LOL

Jeremy the badge is from the amp.

I liked it so much I decided to make an extension cab hehe

Should be all sorts of funky.

I got a 2nd crate and cut it down a bit, mounted them bottom and top (open side/open side) with supports in the corners. On the back I removed some slats so that it is about 1/2 open, I used those slats for the supports. Right now they just slide together so that I can finish it. I'll cut a baffle tomorrow and I'll mount the speaker about 2" in from the face. I have a Jet City/Emi 70wt 12" 16 Ohm speaker around here that I'll throw in it. If it works out I'll be pretty psyched and if not I spent about $30 and had some fun messing with it.

It looks really cool but question whether the slates will interfere with the noise too much - blocking at the front and preventing resonance on the sides. Half the solution would be cutting out the shape of the speaker, replacing it with a wooden circle and some wooden blocks for reinforcement and a cool tweed type grill cloth.

Re: I know how to accessorize! LOL

itll defuse the sound some but i wouldnt mess with the look

Re: I know how to accessorize! LOL

I was actually thinking of trimming the slats slightly but I really don't want to do anything drastic if I can help it.

Re: I know how to accessorize! LOL

A piece of black painted plywood inside the enclosure would seal and preserve the look
And supply mounting and support for speaker

Re: I know how to accessorize! LOL

That is a very cool set up. I think that the amp looks almost proud of her accessory. Funny how sometimes equipment can be perceived to us as sort of coming alive. Here is a pic of my little Fender amp, I think it looks almost forlorn staring out the window:

So I cut a baffle out of 1/2" ply that'll sit 2" behind the slats

Then I decided it really needed something to make it pop. It'll all get buttoned up and wired tomorrow, plus some amber shellac to give it a little aged look
