I know, I have enough amps..

Re: I know, I have enough amps..

Depends on how many tube amps you have.

I've got two tube amps and two attenuators, so I have the right amount. :D

I've got a tube amp with a solid state slaved to it. No attenuators, well, in the modern sense. I do have a set of earplugs that cost almost $20 bucks and neighbors who tend not to want any involvement with the "authorities". I should probably wear the plugs more often when we practice.

I got lucky. Years in bands and no earplugs, but always wore them at work at the shop. Shooting too.

Tinnitus is no joke. They have good silicon ones now that attenuate evenly across frequencies too. No excuses for not being able to hear good.

Yep, that's the kind I have. I just have to remember to use them.

Re: I know, I have enough amps..

haha! man I played probably close to 50 events with blaring half stacks into PA systems for years. Ive been so lucky that I havent suffered any permanent hearing loss. How...no idea lol. And as far as amps go; having 3 small amps doesnt really seem practical and not enought for sure. In my case I've always had at least one 30watt practice amp (SS) and once live use amp 50-100 watts (tube). I've had plenty others on the side that I bought and then sold. But always kept the main 2. Should invest in a tube amp instead of a Bandit though seriously..

People always recommend this. Is it practical? Usually not. You have to spend a good amount of money to have a tube amp that will rival a Bandit for tone, and you typically can't play it at bedroom levels.

I've got a Bandit, Supreme XL (The head version of the Bandit) and an XXL. They're all great amps, especially for the money. No maintenance, and they're *way* better than digital modelers.

Re: I know, I have enough amps..

Exactly. It doesn't have anything I need. I love my cube and couldn't wish for anything better at the moment.

It's just that the Bandit is that amp that I've wanted since I first started thinking about amps. I just don't have any justification for buying it. :(

At this point, if you can throw $150.00 at that dream, give yourself closure and make that dream come true....DO IT.

You are sixteen. Enjoy being sixteen with your Peavey Bandit AND your cubes.

You are going to have plenty of time to make hard choices. For $150.00 this shouldn't be one of them.

GO.

Have fun and enjoy your summer with your new amp.

See you next time,

RE: getting a bandit
Just don't leave out getting a Roland Cube. If the Micro version is anything to go by, the larger one's should be good from the bedroom to the stage. If I had good floor monitors pointing at me, I wouldn't hesitate to use even the Microcube into the house P.A.

I suppose that's true. For me a tube amp is waaay more practical with a full band and live/stage use compared to something like a Bandit. But I guess I shouldn't have been so quick to recommend the tube amp without know what purpose the amps are going to serve...

There are tube amps that range from 1W to 300W and all kinds of flavors in tone. Can you explain what makes "a tube amp" more practical for you than "something like a Bandit"?

I'll assume we are talking transtube 100W Bandit with 12" speaker and external speaker out connection for the Bandit part of it.
Just curious what your why is.

Re: I know, I have enough amps..

A Peavey Bandit really shouldn't be your dream amp.
Those Transtube amps are quite good!!
Have had a Rage 158 forever now....
Even fooled a few into beliving it was something entirely else, have recorded a few tracks with that little critter ;)

Change speakers or buy the head version...lots of good tones in those!

Re: I know, I have enough amps..

Yea the speakers in the Bandits are really their weakest link

Most people judge them off the stock Sheffield

Some flavor of Eminence goes a long way to improving the sound
