Re: I like big muffs and i cannot lie....
Stratman - i reckon you are probably right. Every component is most likely chinese..except maybe for the switchcraft parts?
But if you look at the pedals in my sig, 4 out of 5 are "made in america"(the one on the end being British) but id reckon 90% of the parts in them are chinese too - probably the only non chinese parts would be the NOS transitors. So in essence most stuff is only "assembled in america". This doesnt make much difference for my build tho, cos i guess it is "assembled in Australia". Anyways, General guitar gadgets made some money out of me (i bought 3 kits) so i guess some revenue is heading back stateside.
+1 to the thank god for SD products tho. Most of my axes and amps are Made in America as well, so life is not all gloom and doom.
Gibson175: Don’t get me wrong! I love your pedal build’s handy work.
I purchased and assembled two JBT kit from General Guitar Gadgets for (If my memory serves me right) about $50 bucks each, they do work well, but also use a lot of foreign parts.
Assembled the first pedal in about one hour and it sounds great, very close to the original Jordan Bosstone that I own, but easier to use since it’s a pedal.
I also installed the same unit into a used volume pedal switching the 100K volume pot from the JBT to replace the normal volume 25K pot in the volume pedal, with the 100k pot attached to the side (Had to drill a hole for that) of the volume pedal… This work took me about two hours to complete and does not use that diode (Burned it out somehow ?…)
The JBT installed into the volume pedal works nice, since I can control the amount of drive that I want from the JBT in that configuration.
Finally, I installed a 250K-250K dual ganged linear dual pot so that I can use the pedal signal with a clean signal at the same time.
Give me a really nice easy Carlos Santana tone similar to that Carlos used in Abraxas album.
