I Love Gettin' Head!!

Re: I Love Gettin' Head!!

I think it was Ace Frehley who said "With a Marshall, or a Laney, or any good English amp - and a Les Paul, the sound is just there"

Re: I Love Gettin' Head!!

Congratulations on a seriously brutal wicked amp bud. Hope to see your first impressions soon

Re: I Love Gettin' Head!!

Sometimes the "scratch-n-dent" tag is just a ruse to move inventory. Picked up a Jackson CBX Ellefson R.I.P. 5-string a couple of years ago for roughly 1/2 price since they marked it "scratch-n-dent" or "needs repair". Either they sent me the wrong one, or they were just trying to get rid of it, cuz there's nothing wrong with it.

Congrats on your head, Jololy! :beerchug:

Re: I Love Gettin' Head!!

So, how is it? You're more patient than I am.

As far as the vent - put it face down on a scrap of vinyl or leather, and give it a couple hits with a rubber mallet.
Good as new.

Guess he's still enjoying the head.. Guess when he's having a smoke and basking in the afterglow, he'll tell us about it...

Re: I Love Gettin' Head!!

I messed around with it last night for a little bit. I played it through my Blackstar Vintage 30 cabinet, and it just wasn't sounding right to me. If I have time later this evening, I'm going to play it trough some of my other cabinets.

Re: I Love Gettin' Head!!

Cool acquisition JJ, a mate of a mate uses one of those through a Laney matching cab and it sounds every bit as good as the other Brit company amps.

I've been sooo slammed with work, taking care of my elderly parents, recording with some friends, some crazy b!tch, and drinking whisky to forget all of the aforementioned that I honestly haven't been able to. As I stated earlier, I jammed it through my Vintage 30 cabinet, and something just sounded awry. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I'm going to run it through some of my other cabinets and see how I feel about it. So far, after just running it through just one cabinet, I really wasn't impressed, and it just didn't sound right. However, maybe it'll sound different and better through my other cabinets. It just had this kind of no gain flubby tone to it when I first played it. It didn't sound anything like the videos that I listened to while researching it.

Maybe I'll call Musicians Friend, tell them what I heard, and hopefully they'll give me some money back for the hell of it. I got such a great deal on it as is, that I really hate to send it back even if it needs new tubes or whatever.

Re: I Love Gettin' Head!!

Honestly, for the price you paid, you could probably get away with flipping it for a profit if you don't like it.

Re: I Love Gettin' Head!!

Holy thread resurrection! How do you find the laney after some months? Or did it get traded?
