I love those times when you happen across a combination of gear where everything just feels right and you're so stoked that when you put the guitar down you're just vibrating to pick it back up again.


Les Paul + 59n/SuperDistortion + Big Muff + Orange + 4xV30s in a box = Raging Hard On.


I haven't been this excited about my tone since the first time I plugged EMGs into my Rectifier. The overdrive on the Orange is stellar and the Super Distortion has turned my opinion of the gain channel from luke warm to hot. The Big Muff into the "clean" channel sounds like my amp is about **** itself.


I feel like a d*ck for gushing like this, but I'm ****ing stoked so bad I want to smash a guitar (something I only want to do when I'm happy).

sweet, but maybe gush up a pic of your rig? Sounds pretty cool, I am definitely envious.

That's awsome. I think this is where we all want to get with our gear, but few of us actually get there and stay there. Congrats on finding something that makes you want to rock. Post some pics when you can.

Every time I've found the "perfect tone" I crave something exactly the opposite a few weeks later. A few weeks ago I had nailed that Bluesbreakers with Clapton tone on my Les Paul C5/59 through Traynor Blue. Suddenly it sounded dull one day, then its to a super bass deprived Joe Walsh tone, then to a thick thick thick Opethish tone. But ill play the same music on any tone. The only thing I ever come back to is an overdriven Vox-y tone, which leads me to believe that to be truely happy I need a Vox AC30.. Then when I get that ill suddenly have a craving for a recto or something..

I"m on the same feeling bro. Since I got my Arion Tubulator, my H&K's tonal capabilities went through the roof. It's a very clean amp even with the gain all the way up, which is good but I had never experienced the insane sound of an OD pushing an amp. That thing will literally shake your balls on palm mutes. A nice crisp crunch, completely WOW. I love playing that dern thing and everybody else can't believe it sounds that good! Once you've found what works, stick to it! If it aint broke dont fix it!

Now you just need ANOTHER amp to use in stereo and really give yourself a coronary, LOL. Happened to me. Do this with a delay pedal and stand between them and you may fall over, hee hee.

Oh....I have no doubt that I'll add/change something in a month or two that I initially think is an improvement but actually makes something else worse.....which will cause me to change my cabling/pickups/EQ/pedals/signal path/ect trying to make things better.....which will cause me to get really p*ssed off until I toss everything in the corner but my guitar and my amp.

It's a vicious cycle.

I have another amp (Boogie MkIII) that I was using in stereo, but I got tired of that and switched back to mono for a change. Once I finish dialing in for this latest pickup swap I'll probably add the other amp back in.

That's one reason I love a lot of different kinds of amps.

The trick is to find a great tone, then sink into it musically, and put all the focus on your playing. You start to love it even more. The mistake is to question it, and keep chasing your tail.

For me, Jazz neck + Boss BD-2 + '72 Twin Reverb (tremolo + reverb ON) = musical tone orgasm

Yeah, that's sorta my problem too.

A friend of mine once told me;

"Most people just want an amp with a really good sound, then they tweek their pedals to give them a couple different flavours. Your problem is that you hate tweeking pedals but keep trying to accomplish the same thing with your amps."

i like it too, it makes me at ease. i seem to always get there with my nomad. i don't know what i was so mad about earlier. i was being a prick. anyyywaayyy i do need to get an attenuator.

i love my Schecter/Jr./AC-Tone right now too...if i had an amp that was a little more "in your face" i'd be in complete tonal nirvana right now too...as it sits i'm right at the front door!!
