I made a backing track for y'all

Blues soloing is pretty straightforward. Stick to either the A major or minor pentatonic, or a combination of both. That's basically it. The only other thing you need to do is avoid playing the root (A) over the V (E) chord. It sounds pretty ugly when you do.

that must have been what I did several times that caused me to go :boggled:

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

Very good my Finnish friend! A nation of excellent hockey netminders and blues players! Like most of the people who have soloed over this one, you improved as the song went on.

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

...ya'll mind if I give it a whirl??? I'll be out at the studio tomorrow, so shouldn't be a problem....

just promise you won't laugh too hard!!!!

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

Thanks rdashing! Yeah I noticed that myself... but then I did some big mistakes just before the end as well. But hey, at least it was fun to record it!

We won't laugh at you Jeff, I promise :D

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

Bring it on, Jeff. You're Texan so there has to be some blues in ya somewhere. :D

(Wow, my 5000th post)

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

Well, I'm singin' the blues with all the chores I have this weekend. I could have spent six hours on this with my O/C nature, but here's the hour version. I'm sure there's plenty of bad notes in there, but sometimes it works better when I just go with it and not think too much.

Goodstuff DankStar! I really liked it... dig your tone too :bigthumb:

Congrats to your 5000nd post Erik, but don't think about how much time you spend here :laugh2: ;)

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

As soon as I figure out how to do the record from the PC thing, I'll give her a go. I'll have my wife help me out, she knows about computers. You guys are having fun and I want in on it.

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

thanks, eresseraca! You're rockin' that Tokai yourself!

I used a Danelectro FAB overdrive. $15 well spent! It would have been nice to mic a cab, but it was so early in the morning I ran direct through a Behringer Ultra G.

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

I should have seen this earlier. I just did an improv on this and I quite liked how it turned up. I have NO clue as to what scales to used so it was very random though. Now if ONLY I could figure out how to record....Grrr...

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

Wow, you got at great $15 sound there DankStar! :D I recorded direct as well, with my usual recording setup:

Guitar - TS808 - V-Stack Classic - Soundcard Line-in.

Allright gentlemen, since it was such a nice day outside yesterday. I decided to add a little "intro" recorded on my back porch swing....so wait for just a second.................here ya go!

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

WOW! Nobody is gonna top that! That's the most original use of the track. I love how you captured the whole porch vibe. The Birds, creaky door footsteps into some SWEET Acoustic slide work. Then right into the electric part seamlessly! Extra Cool. :D

first time? sloppy? :bsflag: that ruled!

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

I appreciate the kind words... I think dankstar said it best when he said ..
"I'm sure there's plenty of bad notes in there, but sometimes it works better when I just go with it and not think too much."

For being my first ever post of anything I've actually played.... I "dissected" it way too much and finally just decided to let it fly!

The intro is very simply a mic on my back porch, Literally! I find it amazing how much I just take for granted the "natural sounds" that are there...if you listen closely, I actually tried to play harder when the wind chimes started going.

Intro is $99 Sigma open tuned to A.
Solo part is '82 Ibanez into wah(which I rarely use) and the modded Marshall 2210.

cheers!

Re: I made a backing track for y'all

Jeff, that intro is KILLER!!! I love it! PLEASE send me a solo'd guitar track in wav or mp3 format and I'll add that to the forum jam I'm putting together. I'll PM you my e-mail.

Electric solo was damn fine as well! You kick ass!
