I made a Looper Pedal... Out of an Altoids Container

Re: I made a Looper Pedal... Out of an Altoids Container

That gave me the best idea for the case of a Tonebender clone I'll eventually want to make.

Tonebender's are very powerful strong fuzz pedals...so I thought the "Curiously Strong" Fuzz would be appropriate :laugh2:

I don't feel like an idiot anymore! At least somebody else doesn't know what the heck this is.

Re: I made a Looper Pedal... Out of an Altoids Container

Here's the layout I used!
I used a relay instead of a normal DPDT switch because the only DPDT stompswitches I had were just a hair too tall to sit comfortably in the altoids container..

For those of you who don't know what this does, it's basically an effects loops that can be turned on and off. You can turn on multiple pedals, then use this switch to make them work all at once, or just use them to bypass pedals that color your tone when they're off. It's a simple design but very useful. Thanks for the compliments guys... My ego is doing well now! :)
I just rewired it too... it's much cleaner and now I can proudly display the insides....

When you said looper, I thought it was something that recorded a few bars of guitar playing and then looped it over and over.

Cool thing with the tin. Schweet.

+1. I think what you have is more commonly called a line selector.

Pretty neat. Nice job bro!

Re: I made a Looper Pedal... Out of an Altoids Container

Brilliant idea, and it's actually a funny pedal to have on a pedalboard!

I'm really surprised that the box was deep enough to fit all the jacks and switch, not to mention all the wires. I'm assuming the switch rests against the bottom of the tin, so the lid doesn't crush in when you step on it?

Yeah, it was a pain fitting everything in there... Yes, the switch rests on the bottom of the tin so that there's no stress on the container...

Re: I made a Looper Pedal... Out of an Altoids Container

You are isolating where the switch touches from the rest of the tin aren't you? If those pins on the switch touch the bottom it will ground out and not work. Just put a piece of thin cardboard there or a thin piece of foam. Anything nonconductive will work to keep those pins from touching the tin.

Actually, on this switch the plastic bottom is lower than the terminals. The switch insulates itself. :)

Ah ha, very cool. I forgot about those style switches. I use 3PDT's in all my builds.
