I may be becoming a Strat Guy

Yes I have played a Mirage II before, a few times. Not a Strat, IMO. That's a shredstick.

A shredstick? Really?
Not sure how you define a shredstick then.

Definitely not a strat, but just thought you might appreciate the mix of qualities.

those are great guitars! 59/jb pups, wilkinson trem, sperzels, and usually great builds. not a strat or superstrat, but fun guitars for sure and pretty shreddy even if they dont look it

I don't get on with Strats. I guess I would probably adapt if I had to but they're different in too many little ways from what I like. I played strat-like guitars for the first few years when I was learning, but then I got my first Gibson and that was it. The "alternate reality" Meteora looks cool. I dig the body shape, TOM-style bridge, and 12" radius. Might be a fun compromise.

You start with the stratocaster, then you abandon it in favor of dozen of guitars, and in the end you go back to having one. It sounds strange, but the older you get, the more attraction you feel for her. My very first electric was a 1991 American made black stratocaster, in my teen years. I sold then after a while to get an Ibanez rg. Now I am 48 and, like Aceman, I am seriously thinking to get one buttercream or sea foam HSS strato

You mean ESP Mirage? The Hamer Mirage II is a LP Double-cut style. Not even close to a Strat.

No, the Hamer.
As Ace is more into LP style guitars, I thought the blend of twin humbuckers, set neck with 25.5" scale and vintage 6 hole trem bridge might just be something that appealed...I guess not.

Gotcha. Looks like he was thinking ESP too based in the pic he posted here.

No I'm not giving up my Les Paul's. They will always be my number one choice. But after 56 years on the planet, I may have came to terms with the Stratocaster.

In "Work Band" that we do annually for charity, we play a lot of things; Rock, Pop, Country, Metal, etc.. I find that this season, I have been going simple and just grabbing my Lonestar Strat (with PG+) and using a little volume English to shade the gain. SO far it has been going great and I'm really loving it.

When I'm not doing that, my office guitar is a Squire Strat (Malmsteen project) that I have been playing the crap out of during breaks and on boring meetings.

I'm not sure how far this will go...but this is the most Stratty I have ever been and my positivity towards the style continues to grow.

First Teles, now Strats, how long until Aceman is rocking a Jaguar/Jazzmaster?

That is indeed disappointing Mr. Aceman......

Maybe your spandex has been too tight for too long?

What's next? Plastic ukuleles?

The Squire build I'm on is a 60's vibe body and a neck from 1999. It's a pretty solid setup. Feels very similar to my USA

Congrats Ace, you're getting the best of all worlds!

I started with LPs and SGs but happened to see Randy Bachman from BTO getting those sparkly articulate rhythms and I realized he's playing a strat and that's the only way to get those sounds.

So I was a strat guy for a couple years, Knopfler reinforced it and I learned a lot of Jeff Beck and Hendricks.

EVH pulled me back to humbuckers and realized I prefer long scale so superstrats worked really well.

And at some point I realized they're all excellent for different things which explains why I have too many guitars :-)

Yeah - that happened with my Tele phase. Once I had one in my hands that I really liked, and played some Tele-obvious music. I really started to dig it.

Optionally, just getting soft in my old age, LOL.
