hmm. erm... i feel stupid asking this but im going to...

I've got £70 that i've scrounged around for, and i've got it purposefully to spend on my guitar, which is a rather fetching ''3-tone sunburst'' Squier Strat. (I know some of you might scoff at my 'inferior' Squier as opposed to you with your BRAND NAME Fenders and Gibsons...)

I've had my guitar for about 5 months, cos I'm new to this... I play AC/DC type bluesy rock (so far I can play Back In Black, You Shook Me All Night Long, Shoot To Thrill...)and I've started playing a lot of the newer IRON MAIDEN stuff (Brave New World, Dance Of Death material).

Since I've played Iron Maiden songs such as The Wicker Man (the first song I learned), I'm finding increasingly that the singlecoil on my guitar just doesn't 'cut the mustard' after having played a Fender Strat that belongs to my Uncle (that is so heavily modified I don't think it could rightly be called a Fender Strat anymore!). I'm now absolutely certain that I need a bridge humbucker. I've got £70... so my question is this - what bridge humbucker could I get that sounds great through distortion that brings out the low end with a punch... for £70?

Thanks everyone!

i was about to say the JB, but u said low end with a punch.....

to be honest, i dont know, but someone surely will,

the JB is a great pickup, its just not known for its "low end punch"

I'd say a custom.
I've never tried the custom though but for rock people tend to like the PAF sound and the Custom has good bass.
A DD (duncan distortion) will do what you want too.

I recommend the 59 Trembucker. I've used it for many years as the bridge humbucker in both Super Strats with Duncan SSL-1 vintage style singles as the neck and middle pickup and also in my single bridge pickup EVH style Strat. It's also close to the pickups one might find in early 60's SG's like those used by AC/DC and Clapton when he played with Cream. Highly recommended!

Plenty of bass, plenty of highs and a dynamite lead tone capable of anything from Clapton/Cream to AC/DC to Van Halen...through a great amp like the Marshalls those guys all used. ;)
