I need a new Wah

Re: I need a new Wah

Bad news Ace, Pro Guitar Shop just did a feature on the Tone-Lok pedals (including the Weeping Demon) in this week's Tone Report. Watch those prices surge on the 'bay...

Also, probably a good time to sell your DE7 and TS7. ;)

Ah, nothing like trying to create rumors and panic. I haven't seen Demons go up in price at all this week. There's one on eBay now for $42 (plus $10 shipping) that expires tonight in 9 hours, and no one's even bid on it yet.

Awww crap - I can be patient. The buzz will fade next issue.

Re: I need a new Wah

Yep, and then it'll probably be the original Ibanez wah next, the WH10. :D

In all seriousness though, the Demon looks like a feature packed wah. It'll probably be perfect for your band.

Re: I need a new Wah

Still no increase in price or demand on the Demons...I'm thinking about picking up a 2nd one because they're so cheap used.

Re: I need a new Wah

I'm gonna roll Demon for stage work. Got a gig Saturday though…

Re: I need a new Wah

Hmm.. interesting.. Been watching this unfold.. I am trying to find the right wah too. Biggest problem I have is Im so lousy at using one, I wouldnt know if I had the perfect one. And there are so many to choose from, it's mind boggling. Fasel, non fasel, etc.. My first Wah was a bad horsey. a bud of mind loves his and he is a Sh-t hot player. I couldnt get what I felt are traditional wah tones out of it and I wanted one you could set and leave in position too. So, I thought Id go more traditional and bought a Vox 847 (I think is the model). It was kinda bright to my ears. I tore it apart and rolled the potentiometer (sp?) alil bit to change the sweep. Alil better. I recently bought a Jerry Cantrell. Like it a whole lot. But I still sound aweful playing one.. haha.

I still wonder about others. Such as the Joe B and do I need a fasel and Im intrigued by the features of the CAE mxr. ( I think thats right. Is that the bradshaw designed one?) and curious about the Demon.. Ascension, what do find so appealing with the George Dennis? where does it end?

The Bonamassa wah is pretty warm, it's going to be too warm for some players.

It's not that you're going to regularly be using all of the options on a WD7, MXR MC404, 535Q, or Black Cat Moan, but they're there so you can dial in exactly what you want. That versatility is nice.

A number of Dunlop models have red fasels, including recent-production GCB95's, which are plentiful and cheap.

With your 847, you'll probably want to get a true bypass kit ($20 from Griffin Effects) so it doesn't suck your tone when it's off.

Re: I need a new Wah

ill have to look into that. Im re ally not using the pedal, but that would make it more useful. I assume installing the kit wouldnt be rocket science..?? Im fairly saavy. maybe if I get the kit and then run the 847, tween that and the cantrell, Ill have alot of bases covered

Re: I need a new Wah

After standing for a long time in my cowboy boots, and being sabotaged by the fog machine…

I really need the demon. The search begins…

This might be because that is not what the BH is designed to do. Have you tried any other Morley wah pedals?

Re: I need a new Wah

Wish I came into the pedal board more often so would have seen this sooner. I used to have the Snarling Dog Fire Bawl (the orange one) which was pretty cool, it had a classic and modern modes with an adjustable volume boost. I also used a Morley Classic for a while, but instead of it being auto on, it had a footswitch off to the side which I didn't care for. Lately I've been using the Dunlop SC-95, I like it precisely for the leds and instead of having one top like some other brands it has one on each side

Re: I need a new Wah

I have one of the orginal CRY BABY DUNLOPS sound great to me.

GCB-95? Those aren't true bypass nor do they have buffers, so when they're off, your tone will suffer. The recent production ones have red fasels, but the older ones don't. If you have a GCB-95, it probably needs a mod or two.

Re: I need a new Wah

Yeah its not true bypass, but you know what the tone dont suffer all that much though.I was actually surprised that it didnt interfere all that much like you think to me anyways. I dont really use it much only a few songs. So I basically just take it out of the loop when not using it. I did think about modding it,but I'm not sure its even worth it if I'm not using it all that much.

They sound good, the issue is always what they do when they're not being used. Wah circuits are notorious for degrading tone quality, just part of the design. Putting in a true bypass switch isn't hard or expensive, there's video instruction online. Then you can get more use from your wah, or at least leave it in place when you're not using it.
