No no no, that's wrong.

You need to replace that magnet with a Alnico 8 right now, regardless of whatever tonal considerations you're after.

It's better.

you need to put the pickup on a dual magnet arrangement with an uoa4 and a rca8 right now, you can't possibly ever sound well without un-oriented A4 and rough cast A8

For that mid-60s George Harrison using a Gibson SG tone. They were ALL using rough cast and unoriented back then!
