I need a wiring diagram for my guitar tech

Re: I need a wiring diagram for my guitar tech

It seems like I known stratdeluxer97 before someplace. Have we met?

What I'm saying is, If I told my guitar tech something like, its your job you know how to do it, it would P him off. "you can tell him what you want it to do and he can figure out how to do it on his own." I'm not trying to do his job. To be clear, I'm actually showing him what I want done and making that more simple to understand and maybe I'll learn something myself. I usually confuse ppl when I try to explain things and ppl usually don't understand what I mean. When I pay someone I expect it to be done right. People on the internet say something about someone in the real world and aren't always right, because they don't know them. I keep my opinions to myself. To be clear, I didn't get mad or anything, It just seemed like it came out wrong. I couldn't soider a wire if my life depended on it. My guitar tech has always done excellant work for me and not everyone does all work the same. That was all I was trying to say. I'm new on this forum and I want this forum to be enjoyable for myself and everyone else. I know sometimes people will have their differences, but in the end I will always love each and everyone the same. Take care forums -Jake

LOL I love this thread and agree with sosomething.....

It's a bad sign that your tech needs a diagram.

This forum is mainly DIY'ers who do pickup swaps and magnet swap, even re-winds themselves.

But god forbid we help someone out.

I think everyone is over thinking the whole bad tech thing. Maybe the guy cant quite describe what he wants and the tech said well get me a diagram and ill wire it up. Instead of stabbing in the dark at what the guy wants. Sorry but not everyone has hours every day to sit and try to figure stuff out then redo it again cause its not what the customer wanted.

Ya maybe he needs a tech on his level. :1: It's not like soldering is that difficult. The hardest part is deciding what you want and if that can't be communicated then it's never going to be a reality. I realize the tech might be good or even great - there's a chance - but there's no harm in guessing he may not be. We don't even have a name for the guy, so it's not like slandering him or detracting from his business. So, customer needs to work on their communication of their idea, and hopefully someone understands what he wants so they can help the tech understand. That's how it was...

Anyway, I thought the back and forth in the beginning of this thread was hilarious.

Well for one I ALWAYS get whatever diagram I need to a tech IF it's not a "basic/normal" LP or Strat wiring. If it has even the tiniest detail out of normal I get the diagram for the tech. I just want know what I'm getting. It's not that I think the tech couldn't do it I just want to be 110% sure he and I are on the same page.

So give the OP some slack. This is supposed to a friendly and tolerant forum and it took the 16th poster to get the diagram which every one of us could find in a second. Shame on us.

Re: I need a wiring diagram for my guitar tech

I got the guitar all wired correctly how I wanted it and he knew how to do it.
I was like wtf? Why did you want me to research and find a diagram for then? LOL

My custom Stratocaster has 12 pickup combinations.

neck only, neck-middle only, middle only, middle-bridge full pickup, & full bridge pickup.
On a stock 5 way switch
Then I have an added mini toggle switch.
bridge only coil tap, middle-bridge coil tap, bridge-neck coil tap, bridge-neck full pickup, neck middle and bridge together with full bridge pickup, neck middle and bridge coil tap for bridge.

I've seen guys with strats that have 3 hotrails with 3 coil taps plus what I have.

My neck and middle pups are stock and I have a Dimarzio tone zone s in the bridge.
