i'm not a big fan of peavey's transtube solidstate stuff, there tube amps are a lot better though.

a long time ago I was in a band with 1 guitarist that had that amp. that guitarist had all the connections. good person to know. but that amp sounded bad and not very loud. he had to plug in another amp as well when we played to be heard over the drums. so no and no.

I've got one of the new-ish Bandits, and used it as a power amp for my modeller for a long time, has plenty of power plugged into a 4x12. Disconnect the internal speaker though, it sounds rubbish once you have another cab plugged in.
You have to remember that with a modeller as the preamp, the bandit will have almost none if any effect on your tone.
A Crate powerblock might be a better option because of stereo capabilities, but then it's only 75W per channel I think. Still should be enough to be heard over drums though.
I've always been a fan of the older Bandits though... the ones with the crunch & thrash buttons. I'd swap my new bandit for one of those any day!

Ummm...Peavey has the only solid state sound I have ever liked. The Bandit doesn't keep up drums real well. For rock and metal, I think Peavey still makes the best solid state. Any solid state amp sounds worse when driven hard.

A different opinion:
I LIKE the Bandit 112. I sold a 112S to ranger1bn75inf a couple of months ago. HE likes it as well.
If the one you're considering has a Blue Marvel speaker, then I agree with the idea of using a cabinet or replacing the speaker. The Sheffield is a MUCH better speaker (and was in the 112S).
The Bandit is one of the best bang/buck SS amps. And for the price you're getting is even better. It has alot more capability than it gets credit. The eq is very responsive to minute adjustments.

I like them.They sound even great without any crunch box infront of them.
They are reliable ,have nice clean tone wich is essential for your modelling Korg thingy ,and has enough power...

Many bands over here (who can not afford a valve back-up amp) use the Bandit !
For S/S, i would take it over the MG-series, and probably over the AVT Marshalls too . . .
I kinda have a soft-spot for them though !
