Can someone help me figure out how to wire up a project i am looking at assembling .
i want to have a 3 humbucker load out with a five way switch and a push pull pot so it can achive the 7 way strat setting. so i can have the bridge and neck working together and all 3 pickups working in parallel. does anyone know how to go about this or can draw up a diagram.

I am not going to do a diagram cause I'm lazy but I will tell you what you are after is fairly simple. first off, I think you want these humbuckers in series not parallel as that is typical for a humbucker. Either way you can get the wire codes for your humbuckers here http://www.planetz.com/humbucker-wiring/. if series wire each humbucker by wiring white and red together. then green to ground for all three. black will be your hot for all three. If parallel, combine white and green -those go to ground. combine black and red and that will be your hot.

whichever way you choose... just look at any standard strat wiring and replace the strat pickup hots with your hots. (series = black for ea, parallel = black/red for ea). replace the strat bridge pu with your black or black/red for your bridge, etc.

after you've done that you have to ask yourself what you want to do afa 7 sound. I'm not sure there is an identifiable standard for that... but one popular thing is to wire it up to turn the bridge pickup on in the neck position. to do so... you would just need to wire in two wires. 1 from the live of your bridge pickup to the middle pole on a push pull. the other from the volume knob lug 2 (9 times out of 10) to the other lug on the push pull.

if you can follow those simple instructions that will get you to the church on time. cheers

I think he is talking about 3 series humbuckers in parallel with each other, right?

Re: I need help with a wiring idea

Don't know if it will help but I recently experimented wiring up a 3 Humbucker guitar. I posted a thread

https://forum.seymourduncan.com/sho...ST-WAY-TO-WIRE-A-GUITAR-WITH-THREE-HUMBUCKERS

Eventually decided that the best way was to wire bridge and neck normally with a 3 way and use a push pull to add in the middle pup when needed. You will see from the thread that I actually had 3 vols but the idea works with a master vol and master tone.

If you wanted to use a 5 way you could introduce something like a series or OOP option between bridge and neck or even more options if it was a superswitch

Suspect however that you just want the stock strat 5 way switch wiring with the push pull giving the so called Gilmore mod adding the neck humbucker into the circuit irrespective of the 5 way position.

do you have a copy of the method you used to wire the les paul you worked on?
i looked at your thread and it was interesting, however i was not able to see were you added the middle push pull pot.

Re: I need help with a wiring idea

I am not at home at the moment. If you really want I can post something in a few days but it's quite simple and you should be able to work it out for yourself. Consider the push pull to have 2 seperate functions. and to be 2 seperate switches. A volume control and an on off switch. The hot from the middle pup goes to the middle terminal of the on off part. There is no wire to the lower terminal so when the push pull is down the pup is out of the circuits and effectively switched off. There is a short wire from the upper part of the on off which connects to the input lug on the vol control so when the push pull is pulled up the pup is connected to the vol control. The circuit is completed by a wire from the vol output to the out put lug of the 3 way . The master tone control is also wired to this lug as is also the wire to the output jack. I hope that makes sense.

Having said that I think you will be happier with the stock 5 way wiring and the Gilmore mod.

i will look into the gilmore mod for my setup
