I picked up this Blackmore Strat and it has SSL-4s in it

The guitar comes with the flat SSL-4s as opposed to the staggered SSl-7s. My question is can I set the SSL-4s closer to the strings since the magnets are not sticking up? How do other Blackmore Strat players have their pickups set?

I wouldn't put a QP too close. Those big ass magnets will kill sustain.

Agreed. Stratitis happens when a regular Strat pickup is too close to the strings. I don't wanna know what would happen with a QP.

The flat magnets and larger surface area produce a different type of string pull and you can get them a bit closer than with staggered magnets.

The first blackmore strats came with 2 gold lace sensors. And a set neck.

Hmm, no idea..it looked like a set neck though, not a glued-in bolt on. Pretty cool, and very strange for a Fender.
