This is the first LP-shaped guitar i got since i sold my Zakk Wylde Epi in 2007.

It is very hard to compare it with any other Gibson Les Paul, as the only other LP that i play (every now and again) is my brother's LP Std.

Got the guitar today, and very first thoughts are :

* the neck is fantastic. (kinda between my Gibson SG & my old Zakk Wylde LP)
* the detail to the fret ends are superb.
* pick ups sounds HUGE (fat & full) Must be A2's in there, because it sounds 'bigger' than my Duncan A2P's in my SG.
* at 4.212 kg's it is probably a solid slab of wood. (no idea what that translates to in pounds)


These were take in the bedroom, under crappy power-saving lights. (used auto white balance)
So the colour is deff not accurate. Still, not too bad for ISO 3200 shots i s'pose.
I will take MUCH better images tomorrow in the sun.

Earlier today, as i took the guitar out of the OTT well-packaged box and then guitar case, Led Zeppelin's Celebration Day was blasting over the TV system.

So far . . . i am super happy.

Now where did i put those unopened WLH boxes ?

9.2664 lbs. A kilo is about 2.2 lbs. But that is a very nice looking guitar you have there. I'm a hobbyist but I'm GASsing for an NGD, even hobbyists need new axes, right?

Suweeet! I don't think I've ever heard a bad word about a Tokai.

Can not wait to to play the guitar through a cranked Thunderverb on Sunday.

No, not at a church, but on a smallholding (read : very little farm) just outside the city.

But tomorrow, weather permitting, i am taking better photos.

SUPERB! I absolutely looooove that plain top subtle honeyburst (flame/ quilted top is over for me). Never mind the cheesy 'Love Rock' model.

The plain top in that colour is very close to my heart...looks just like my LP!!

Tokai pickups DO sound huge, and sweet. I could easily dial a Gary Moore tone out of one in a store.

As a FYI. Some Gibby historic pup rings will match the guard and binding much better. For some reason they (& edwards) cannot seem to source rings which are not that weird yellow creme.. I had the historic rings on mine.
