Yes. He didn't like the 5150, either.

Are you really sure what you like at all, Rombola? Why not just play every amp at Guitar Center, and then tell us what you liked/disliked, and we can guide you from there.

You've basically told us "I want a bedroom level tone thats raw and gainy, I didn't like the 5150 or Recto."

You aren't telling us why you didn't like them, besides that you weren't satisfied and it sounded like a cheap SS amp. Did you even try the settings I gave you, before? You should've at least been able to find a tone you liked, starting from those. Your settings you listed before would've made it sound like a ****ty SS amp, but not the ones I gave you.

look deadskinslayer whats the problem with me not liking these amps man ? not every metal band uses a recto or a 5150 ! why? 'cause they dont like 'em maybe i dont know , let me tell you that the recto is actually pretty good I was exagerating a bit about sounding like a cheap ss , just not my flavor I guess ! but that 5150 2x12 that i had souded like complete ass im serious maybe i got a bad one or something but you would be disgusted , i've seen a couple of bands playing 5150's and they sound pretty good ! i would love to have a tone like avenged sevenfold - city of evil thats a tone i really dig but a bogner uber or xtc is way out of my budget!

There's no real problem with it, but you should have been getting tones you liked out of either of them, if they were working properly.

What I was criticizing more was the fact that you really cant tell use what you didn't like about them, thus we can't help you.

Also, if you could refrain from using the DSS surname for me, that'd be most appreciated.

Re: I sold my mesa and my wallet is $1450 bucks fatter what to get?

As with many guitar players. I don't feel one amp can do all I would like it do do. For that reason I currently own 5 Amps. A Bogner Shiva that I bought used (1 12" combo). Its a really sweet amp, a Marshall 900 combo, a SF Super Reverb, A Carvin X60, and a SF Deluxe Revreb. Each one of these Amps has certain things I like, so depending on what I need I can pick the Amp that will do what I like. The Bogner is the most versatile of them all............ by far. The channel switching is excellent and offers excepitonal tone out of both channels, the Marshall has excellent drive, but the cleans leave a lot to be desired (I never used the cleans much on this amp) The Super Reverb as a fabulous amp.... my favorite Fender that I have ever played thru. The Deluxe in small settings as a really great amp. You can get amazing tone without any pedals at a manageable volume level.

The point of this is trying to get an amp that you can play at bedroom levels as well as GIG with is going to be difficult. Some amps flat out will not sound right until you crank them. SO at bedroom levels these amps are going to sound thin and uninspiring. A low watt amp will sound really good at bedroom levels, but at gigi levels you will loose all the headroom that is needed. IMHO get a practice amp for home and an amp you can gig with. Keep your eyse open and wait for the right deal!
