Cool. I almost forgot that Risson had two different logos.

Just yesterday, I searched Risson images and think I found the guy who owns the old ETA80 I owned from 85 - 88 (my first real tube amp). I recognized the same flaws mine had.

I sure wish I'd never sold that amp. It would sound better now, because I had Radio Shack tubes in it because my mom wasn't in any position to be buying expensive 6550's.

I still can't believe you found that white Risson halfstack in time capsule condition!

There is a real good chance those Realistic Tubes were the best of the best. I have a small stash of Realistic Mullards.... My guess is you never got to play it loud enough ! What guitar did you have then? That white thing is as sexy as Travolta in Sat Night Fever !

Ha, the Travolta bit made me laugh.

How many amps do you own now??

Re: I think Gearjonser will approve of this post.

Me too, all the old Risson metal player pics are great. Nikki Sixx rocks it nicely too. nikkisixxcolorSMALL1.jpg

I used to crank that Risson head every day after school, so much so that I knew the local cops by name! LOL

I'm not sure about the Radio Shack tubes. I didn't know anything about the workings of amps back then, but I remember my mom complaining that each tube was $20.
"That's freakin ridiculous for a glorified light bulb that should cost a dollar!" haha

Whaaats Kevlar !!!! Dude, awesome that you are still here. BTW I love my AOR more than ever ... thanks again ! It never stops me to be amazed with your knowledge of obscure gear from 70s, early 80s. Besides Nikki, are there well known, "epic" albums where Risson was used ?

Re: I think Gearjonser will approve of this post.

I pop in on occasion :). I still love my Pro Tube too, still one of the absurd deals in Brit tone. I am not sure on the Risson album legacy, I think Lita used one on her first solo album. There were a lot of session players using them, and my hunch is that is where the majority of the recordings would be. The amp was and still is a very underground machine, so outside of a niche LA crowd, there was not much going on. One of the very first boutique amps for sure.
