hoping to land my first les paul preferably with either an ebony board with block inlay or without inlays. can't afford a used lp custom so i'm in the market for an older swamp ash studio or limited colors studio.

that's until i saw the les paul traditional special, apparently, it is part of the 09 special run series. any information on this?

It looks a lot like a BFG.

I owned a BFG. I had to sell it due to finances, but I loved that guitar...

If this is anywhere near as nice as one of those, then you would have a killer (if a little under-finished) guitar on your hands!

:cool2:

Re: i think i've found my first lp...

it certainly looks like a souped-up bfg especially with the same pickup configuration. but the ebony board and body binding sets them apart though.

btw, the finish on the lp traditional special is called london fog.

Defintely a cool looking guitar as far as specs are concerned.

It's important to judge each Paul on a case-by-case basis tho...i wouldn't focus on any one particular spec so much...just go play a lot of Pauls and find the one that speaks to you.

They're excellent guitars but it's no secret that their quality control standards aren't the highest. The good ones get thru but so do some bad ones...

He means a lot of LP's - I think. If it works for you - hit it. P-90 goodness in an LP is an awesome thing. Very unique looking guitar. Not the same old same old.

+1. A HB bridge & P-90 neck is a great combo.

Lol ... yeah I meant L.P's. I've tried a fair few to got the ones I've owned but it is definately worth the effort. I've just gone through the whole process again to get a '57 R.I Custom... now I'm sorted. I have to be honest though, that 'Bucker/ P90 L.P does look great... I'll bet it sounds killer too!

Definitely! I have a JB bridge and P-90 neck in, of all things, a 1968 Epiphone Casino and it is flat out awesome. Great combo, and that Les Paul is a helluva nice pick dani.

Re: i think i've found my first lp...

thanks guys. problem is that there's a monopoly on gibson guitars here in singapore. there's only one dealer in this small country. they don't even carry the whole range not to mention trying loads of them.

guess it's buying off the net sight unseen and cross my fingers and hope it is a nice playing guitar. :scratchch

Re: i think i've found my first lp...

Well, I've never played a Gibson that was a dog. However, I've played/seen a few that weren't worth the price. Good luck!

Re: i think i've found my first lp...

yeah i mean you should be okay if it comes down to it like that.

i would totally drop a P-Rails in the bridge of that thing :smokin:
