I tried an Eminence Cannabis Rex..........

I've been curious about this speaker so I gave it a try in the Mesa. It's very evenly eq'd but I found I really, really missed that midrange grind of the Vintage 30 under gain. I can see why Eminence recommends the CB for jazz and blues-it has a slight raspiness that is very pleasing for single notes and sounds great clean but I was missing the prominent midrange tones with power chords under high gain (I mostly use my Stiletto in Tite Gain, JCM 800ish).

I'm getting a Governor in a trade for it which I'll try out next week. I'm interested to see how it compares to the Vintage 30.

I love it in my Brenna 40.

Is that a more 'American' voiced amp rather than British? I bet it does sound good in it. I should have had a clue when I was getting a Patriot for a British voiced amp :eek13:

It's a blackface fender reverb AB763 circuit. Good fit for that amp.

It's really "similar" in many qualities. But is louder ,has more midds ,and the bottom is a tad tighter.Vintage 30 has some dirt in it.It can be positive for some amps and ears ,and can be negative too!So just try it out.I love mine ,and it's a working horse under hi-gain.A very strong and nice sounding one!

I got their 10 inch version, the Lil' buddy, in my 2X10 cab that I run w/ my showman reverb. Excellent speaker for cleans. Not my thing for heavy overdriven tones...but...then again, I'm using it with a showman reverb.

I've only really used the governor in conjunction with another speaker...either the screamin eagle or the man-o-war. But in both applications I'm real happy with it.
