I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

There was a thread about those last year
That's a mighty fine capo

I don't see it as something I would get for me
But when you have a moment of
" what to get the musician who has everything "

Rest assured he won't have that

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

Wow, those sure are pretty. Not a capo guy myself.

Coupla capo pics from the files...

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

I've been eyeing those Thalia capos for a while now but haven't pulled the trigger. They look like they're very well made and the different finishes available are pretty amazing.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

I recently picked up a Planet Waves NS Capo. It isn't anything super flashy, but the adjustable tension is a must-have for me going forward. Finally a capo that won't pull the guitar out of tune.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

I dunno, seems like a really expensive way to get the same results a $20 Kyser does.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

My wife bought me a Thalia last Christmas. Beautifully made.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

I have a few different kinds, especially for recordiing. I never use one on electric but on acoustic it helps not playing barre chords for a whole song. I don't use them enough to justify a really nice expensive one, though. My Variax Acoustic lets me save 'virtual' capos...so it sounds like you have one, but the guitar remains in EADGBE tuning.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

They make beautiful stuff, I would have one if I was doing more acoustic stufg

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

I picked one up in maple sunburst. It is pretty cool they include inserts fo different neck radiuses and shapes. The thing is built like a tank.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

Like the looks, like the idea and build...but while I'm usually not "cheap" on my gear, it is hard for me to justify that type of money for a capo...because the $15 Kyser works for me (only guitar I had issues with was my former Tele build that had the thickest neck you could buy...)

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

I had the capo on my '59 style Les Paul neck last night. No problems what so ever. My Ibanez acoustic and B. C. Rich acoustic have thin electric style necks, so I think I am covered across all of my axes.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

My wife just got me a Thalia for my birthday. I've tried it a few times and I like it a lot. Mine is black chrome with the dragon heart abalone inlay.

Since I play mostly in a worship setting anymore, I've been using capos a quite a bit. I have been running one of the NS designed planet waves units with the adjustable tension, which I thought was the best, until now. I really like the interchangeable pads for different fretboard radii. It feels a little more "accurate" for some reason.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

I bought several of the cheaper $2 kyser copies a while back.
My buddy says they pull his guitars out of tune
I must play so badly that I haven't noticed

Ha!

The Kyser made one specific Tele get out of tune...but that Tele had a huge fat neck. I tried several capos and all of them did the same thing...couldn't even get the G7, which is my favorite for acoustics, around the neck.

My Kyser pulls just about any guitar sharp unless I'm REALLY careful clamping it in place.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

Kysers exert way too much unnecessary downward pressure on the strings/neck. They damage frets and throw strings out of tune. Anything where you can control the pressure is a must. I only use Shubbs at the moment, but those custom Thalia capos look like really nice builds.

Re: I usually don't get excited about a Capo, but

I agree about Thalia capos, beauty with function.

However, my Daddario's Tri-Action capo works as well as the Thalia for a third of the cost.
