I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

Re: I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

Most of those are spares/backups. I wouldn't be surprised if 2 maximum of those is the most he ever goes through at 1 time.

16:56 the 9 heads with 12 backups is the "B" Rig for small Arenas.

There's a bigger rig for Stadiums and yes they're all on.

I have a burstbucker 1 and 3 in one of my SGs and I can really get Angus tones. I have 3 SGs, one with 57s one with 490s and one with burstbuckers. The one with burstbuckers I couldn't see myself ever replacing them.

he doesnt use monitors so there are live cabinets across the stage so he can duck walk from one side to the other and still hear his guitar. excessive? maybe but so freakin rock and roll

Re: I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

I read through the quite a few threads but hardly came upon a clue as to what the High Voltage set really is like. What pickup it sounds like, first and foremost, and then how it departs from that. Pearly Gates is pointed to in the description of the set, but I didn't see much endorsement for that view either (I don't hear so much AC/DC in Pearly, there is something soft or mellow about its sound that doesn't fit in for me, probably because of the A2) I guess some 300 hundred bucks is requisite to learn about it. I can listen to Angus but he sounds like himself whatever you put in his hands, and his rig and playing situation is not ordinary. One of the forumers has written a review on it on another site, I kindly appreciate, but he is very careful not to 'spill the beans on' what he hears from the CS people. Maybe spilling some beans would be good for everybody in this case.
And then the Brobucker. It is said to be dark, and it is said to sound very AC/DCish. I don't know how these two descriptions go together, they must both be correct somehow I am sure. In any case hope to hear what the OP ends up with and how he fares. I am also hoping to read and understand more of the pickups mentioned.

Re: I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

the bro isnt overly dark but isnt super bright either. put it in a sg, plug that into a nmv marshall turned up and rock out and youll definitely hear some angus in there

I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

I hate to say it, but with the right NMV Marshall type amp and cab, I can get Angus out of a 498T in an SG. It's not a mysterious tone. It's just raw rock.

(I have a recording somewhere that demonstrates it. The recording was to demonstrate the amp, not pickups.)

You can only get Angus Tone with a Sig Angus pickup, i saw it on the internet.

But they've only been around the last 10 years. IDK how he got Tone before that ?

Re: I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

I put a WLH bridge in my Epi SG and it sounds pretty damn much like Angus.

Personally I am not after Angus' tone, but I am going to get some pups anyway for my Les Paul, and that tone can be a good reference I think - better than no reference. OP probably meant it the same way too.

Re: I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

Most people seem to hate that pup, except a few who just love it. Angus didn't use it much apparently..
Edit: This was intended for the Gibson Angus pup.

Re: I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

Getting a good AC/DC tone is more about mojo than gear. No amp, pickup or pedal is going to get you there. It is all about riding a dingo while the blues blows your hair back.

Re: I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

Just to clarify JMP/HBE's last post for those that may be confused...the first picture is from the Razors Edge era, whereas the video is much earlier, guitar > Wireless > Marshall
