I want some little hex keys for Floyds...

Re: I want some little hex keys for Floyds...

I'll check some of my boxes to see if I can find some spares. What color would you prefer chrome or black?
You need the 2.5mm and the 3mm, correct? Those are the typical sizes.

Re: I want some little hex keys for Floyds...

Stew-Mac has them for 64 cents each. Or you could get one of those sets that bolt to the back of the headstock, about 10 to 15 bucks.

Re: I want some little hex keys for Floyds...

I found brand new ones in both black and chrome, so pm me your details and I'll have them out to you for free.

I do have some OEM Floyd keys from ESP era Kramers and the Schaller tool holder that bolts to the back of the headstock, if interested we can discuss that.

Add this thread to the (new clip on tuner day thread). Look online numnuts.

Re: I want some little hex keys for Floyds...

Whatever size fits the nut locks on a Floyd II

Re: I want some little hex keys for Floyds...

I actually meant to say pliers, but it must have auto completed... That's pretty nasty, I'd be so mad if I got a padded envelope full of those pesky things, even more so if I had to sign for them..

Aceman, if that didn't scare you off to the Stew Mac site, and you're still interested pm me.

A smart electric guitar player carries tools... including a metric allen wench set which will include the necessary drivers.

I have a folding metric set I keep in the case
Just in the case

Smart man. I carry a small toolbox to gigs. It contains a crescent wrench, pliers both regular and needlenose, sets of allen wrenches both metric and standard, a jewelers srewdriver set, larger screwdrivers both phillips and flat, a soldering kit, and some wire.

Re: I want some little hex keys for Floyds...

As for the braided pubes, I'd sooner part with my allen wrenches than with my lower dreadlocks... :firedevil

Re: I want some little hex keys for Floyds...

a soldering kit is a bit much
a single flip over screwdriver
hex set
tuner
maybe strings if not a back up guitar

I really aint gonna solder anything at a gig

You never know. I mixed a very well funded motorcycle rally a few years back that was finished off by a concert featuring a singer who used to be in a band you have heard of (not the original singer of course). It was a fly-in so we were providing backline. It was a ridiculous backline with four guitar rigs onstage; ALL of our guitar heads were in use except the ****ty backup head. One of the heads on the deck was a Dual Recto... it had been specifically requested for that guitarist in the rider. It was the only one we had, and we were too far out in the middle of nowhere to be able to rent one on short notice. It developed a problem during soundcheck. Rather than pulling out ****ty backup head right away, I pulled out my multimeter (which I forgot to mention above I carry in my toolbox as well), pulled the chassis, found the problem, warmed up my iron, and fixed it.

The guitar player said in all of his years of touring he'd never seen somebody fix a broken amp right there on the deck during soundcheck. He gave me his distortion pedal as a thank-you after the show! I had casually commented beforehand that I really liked the sound of that particular pedal.

Be prepared.
