I welcome myself back to the "bright side" and need suggestions for pickup

After 5 years of using active EMG pickups I can definatly tell that I return to SD pickups...
Since I have been an active guy for long I decided to try the SD Distortion for my main guitar(alder,maple/maple bolt on)...
And I could say that I like the most features of this pickup...

I like the fact that it is tight(but not over-tight like 81) and is very fluid and it can keep up with soloing and riffing...

while I enjoy all this I kinda feel that the distortion has a metallic "zing" to it...
which pickup could I also try if I wanted to get rid of this "zing" thing...??

I would like a pickup that could give me the same fluid soloing(I wouldn't say no to more) and also have a nice rhythm sound.

I have tried the TB-5, TB-4 but it's been years and the rig has changed a lot so pls suggest what you think it would be the best...

I use a modded 2204 and a 4X12 with G12h30 heritage 75hz

thanks a lot

The JB does have an upper mid hump that with certain setups can translate to zing. I think you definitely want an A2 or A8 sounding pickup to alleviate the issue.

I'd look at Parallel Axis Distortion. Should have smoother highes (i.e. no zzing) and is definitely capable of soloing. I bought one and I hope next week it'll go in my guitar.

After having read the title, I thought you needed a bright pickup, LOL

The Distortion is a really good pup and you already like most of what it has to offer. Just replace the ceramic magnet with an alnico 8 and you'll have everything you're after.

try a Jazz Neck and Jason Becker Perpetual Burn in the bridge. this combo absolutely rips!
