It was just opened like 2 weeks ago, so they had a pretty fresh stock of guitars that were well set up. The guitars that really spoke to me tonight were: A Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe II, and a BC Rich Mockingbird ST. The Les Paul was my favorite, the neck shape felt good and it had a good set up. It was very nice looking, it had like a caramel burst finish that was very nice. It was easly the best les paul I've ever played. It had some sort of active boost system in it that was pretty powerful. Very huge sounding. The guy that got it down for me was trying to get me to buy it. To be honest I would have if I had the money. It's been haunting my thoughts since I put it back on the wall. I also played a USA PRS CE 24 with a mystery set of Duncans in it that were not right for the guitar. It also had a very weird control scheme were the pickup selector was an additonal knob in place of the switch. It sounded like it was bridge>bridge split>out of phase middle>neck split>neck. Very confusing scheme. My only real dissapointment with the Guitar Center that I went to was that the only tube amps available to play were: an egnater tweaker head, a fender blues jr, and a fender excelsior. Being a big high gain fan I was not really pleased with that assortment. I think next time I go I'll bring my Blackstar head to try guitars on.
That les paul is still giving me intense GAS.
Screw being broke.
