I wish I had the money..

Re: I wish I had the money..

Nothin' like a bad case of GAS to give you the blues, huh? Fender Twin Reverb would be very nice indeed! ;)

Re: I wish I had the money..

You know if you add up all the scratch you've spent on low end guitars you hit that 600 mark hes asking....

Re: I wish I had the money..

Just a word of warning, gearslutting amps like that can be a lot less fun than guitars. Some people can play these dirty but they are mostly a big, heavy box that you cannot ship that is mostly for cleans. Cleans in a band recording context can come out of preamps or simulators these days. Even if you wanted to record this amp you would need a suitable room. You can not just add basement hall and expect the greatness to carry over.

I mean at this price you can play with it for a while and flip it, but shipping would be brutal. Also, don't let FedEx package it.

$250, $225 and $150(And it was mostly a Christmas gift so I didn't pay that much). So, really, closer to $500 total. And the Epi LP/ESP have SD 59'/JB and JB/Jazz so really you could cut another $50-100 out and I could throw in some original Epi pickups to match the "low end" guitar that it is. ;)

Yes he would... he was GIVEN 2...

so like... whatever...

One has a warped neck which still needs to see a chiropractor and the other stays in tune for an hour. I know both are fixable, but after being set up, neck straightened(or a new neck) and a new bridge..(Which, don't get me wrong, I plan on doing eventually.)

And.. I know I should have just stuck with my first guitar.. I couldn't help myself.. I'm already close to just selling all but one..

Re: I wish I had the money..

250+225+150= 625... thats some creative accounting you got going on there sport. Christmas gift or not it was money laid out on gear that could have gone elsewhere. The pickups have zero to do with this, only the price you paid.

Its your money and in the end I dont really care how you spend it. If you are happy with piles of low end gear have at it. But then dont get bummed out when pricier pieces are out of reach cause you didnt save up a bit of scratch. This is my point.

And really its cool, you are young in the grand scheme of things it really wont hurt anything. Ive just seen so many guys start out and buy piles of low end gear that they are barely able to sell later when they decide they want to move up. Right now its a buyers market.

Alright. Thanks for the info.

EDIT: Also, if you couldn't tell, the $500 total wasn't counting the Washburn. Not sure why you wouldn't understand, but I guess.

EDIT 2: I take back what I just wrote here. Kinda(really) sounded like a jerkhat.

Silverface Twin Reverbs are way overrated and that's about $250 more than i would spend on one.

Re: I wish I had the money..

one can take a cheap guitar
set it up well and and if it feels good
feels comfortable, stays in tune etc
one can have a fine player

the amp
if one takes a mid range amp
either SS or Toob
turns the knobs, one can find at least one good useable tone

a good tone and nice player can make music

granted everyone may not like it

I like less expensive guitars
I have a few

I also have some mid range gear
I really dont feel as though I play well enough
to justify buying a $4k instrument

Thanks man..

I don't feel that I play well enough to justify buying anything else guitar related. I just can't help myself when I find a good deal...

I'm kinda stuck with playing.. I'm using some online courses but I just can't find anything I like.. I just need to stick to something and learn..

If you shop and purchase properly, you will sell the low end stuff at the same profit/loss margin as the expensive stuff. I splurged recently and picked up a bunch of mid-level imports (IE, $400-$700 when new) for about $200 a piece. If I were to sell them all, I'd realize a fair amount of profit. It would take an enormous amount of luck to have the same profit off one expensive guitar.

Sell your crappy guitars and use the money to take real lessons

Not really its all in knowing what you got and where to move it.

And he for sure isnt picking and choosing his purchases based on their profitability. On the lot of guitars he has now he would be lucky to break even on all but 1.
