I Would Visit Tips&Clips More if You Didn't Use Soundclick

ImmortalSix

John Mayer's Mankini
When it works, it works slow, takes too long to load, doesn't work at work, but really, it just rarely works.

I usually have to find a workaround (play all, then select the song) to get it to play at all.

Let's all start using a better sound clip hosting service.

Re: I Would Visit Tips&Clips More if You Didn't Use Soundclick

I never really have any problems with it - just click a link and the song starts playing. Quality is good enough for a quick listen. the way the site lays stuff out, and the long series of clicks to get to where you upload a song is pretty lame.

that one that phantom isle/twilight oddysey uses is pretty cool (forget the name) - seemed like a similar soundclick format of using players, but was better quality and had some other cool features as I recall. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd have switched over by now.

peeps on the sneap forum were using a MP3 d/l thingy for a bit, but I don't like downloading just to hear a clip for some reason, plus it was some program you had to install which seemed like too much work/trouble just to share clips, and if I don't have to install a program to get something done, I don't.

you got your eye on any potential good-uns?

All of this is news to me, I've never had a single problem with regards to Soundclick being slow or not working. Weird.

Re: I Would Visit Tips&Clips More if You Didn't Use Soundclick

I honestly don't have a better idea. I thought about YouTube, because they are embeddable, available everywhere, and fast, but most folks don't want to dilute their YouTube account with tons of videoless half-finished clips.

odd, hunter ... soundclick hasnt ever given me a hint of trouble either

youtube is a hassle for me at work because i prefer to use firefox over ie but i can not upgrade/install the flash player plugin for firefox because it is not on my corporate IT approved list

hmmm. seems a bit odd to use a vid site for audio stuff, although not uncommon. are audio clips able to be immediately posted? I dislike that waiting period for videos. I uploaded some stuff one time, all excited to share with the world, and it was ready for viewing like the next day. has that changed?

Re: I Would Visit Tips&Clips More if You Didn't Use Soundclick

I don't have a big problem with soundclick, although it is a bit clunky to use.
Myspace is just a pain and really is slow. It's the dinosaur of social networking and feels like it.
Youtube has it's merits but I'd prefer just to use it for vids... although I don't do much of that anyway.
There's always the facebook option... or perhaps not.
There's actually a thing called reverb nation I use a bit but it seems very clunky to use, and it's within facebook so I'm not sure how much use it really is.

I was about to suggest this. This is what I use. No filesize limit, no length limit, you just get two hours for free to fill up.
If you fill up one account, use another email to make another one.

http://netmusicians.org !!!!!!! This website is amazing, everyone should be using it. You can search a specific piece of gear and hear what everyone has recorded with it. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet.

John Mayer's mankini uses soundclick. I thought you'd be a fan. I've never had any issues with soundclick either. Been using it for years.
