ibanez artcore guitars...

Re: ibanez artcore guitars...

They sound nice, but you have to be careful of feedback, since it's a full hollow. The pickups have a searing quality under gain, that you might or might not like.

Re: ibanez artcore guitars...

Hey, that guitar's upside down! :naughty:

I have a couple fully-hollow Artcores. I like them. Good quality. The keys to controlling acoustic feedback are:

- Turn the bass on the amp fairly low.
- Watch where you stand relative to your amp.
- Don't use more gain than you have to.
- Turn down the volume or put your hand over the strings when you're not playing.

I've seen guys play full hollows at fairly loud indoor gigs, and at outdoor festivals, so it can be done. You just have to pay attention to a couple things that you usually don't with a solid body.

Re: ibanez artcore guitars...

They are pretty nice guitars, I played one for several months. I had a full hollowbody but the slim model with the bigsby copy, I really liked it. You could get some cool Ted Nugent tones out of it too. And its easy to control the feedback after you get used to it, sometimes the feedback can even come in handy on a song! :D

Re: ibanez artcore guitars...

I have the af75d. It is a very well made guitar. Perfect finish, great fretwork and easy playability. Feedback can be an issue, but if you heed the advice of Blueman335 above it will help. This guitar is the one I play the most at home. The guitar's unplugged sound is what enticed me to buy this. I like it a lot.

Re: ibanez artcore guitars...

We live in a condo and our neighbor who lives upstairs from us has one. I don't know the model but it's a 335 type model in Black . He let me try it a couple of times and I was impressed by it. I thought it was much better than Epiphones Dot model as far as tone and sound were concerned, plus it seemed to be lighter as well.

Re: ibanez artcore guitars...

I posted a thread on them a while back. They're great guitars. They are constructed with a pretty good degree of quality and sound great. I had been wanting to pick one up for a while to satisfy my ESS335 craving, but I ended up getting a couple of Les Paul Worn Studio Pros for $700 each.

+1. As Nugent used to do regularly in the Amboy Dukes days with a Byrdland. Controlled feedback can be your friend. Listen to their original studio version of 'Baby please don't go' which came out around 1967-68. The low octave feedback Ted used on that song will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Talk about powerful. Roars like a lion.

Amazing guitars for the money!

My brother playes an Ibanez Artcore, I forget the number...it's a semi hollow thinline like a 335 but it's single cut and looks like an overgrown semi hollow Les Paul...amazing guitar!

I was fixing up a friend's hollowbody Artcore some time ago (I think it was the same model as in the OP, except blueburst and right handed) - he plays it in his jazz quartet, and I gotta say, it was a really nice guitar.

Well built, good attention to detail on the finish and playability. Decent pickups too.

Bottom line = great guitars for the money, and they sound absolutely delicious. Throw in some high quality pups and I'm sure you'll be thrilled.

Secksie axes!

I have a small body that I LOVE. Just put new pups in it a couple of months ago. Great guitars.

The make the AS_93 in this blue burst, and a vintage violin burst that is really nice.
