Ibanez Artcore

Re: Ibanez Artcore

Guys,
Thanks for the great input. My buddy has an AF75 and I loved the tone. I'd like to get one and then upgrade the pickups (thinking Burstbuckers). Bluesman, what were the main differences between the 75 and 105? Thanks.

Re: Ibanez Artcore

I liked the artcore series overall, but their version of the Bigsby blew chunks.

Scott F, hadnt seen him around here for a little wile, glad he's back. Hey I played a few of these and for the money most of them are allmost unbeatable. Its a bang for the buck guitar but it gets jazz tones just fine as well as a descent rock sound. As with any mass produced guitar you have to check for flaws but if you check the guitar out first and it plays ok and you get a nice setup done its fine. Not perfect fine but adequate fine and a great bang for the buck guitar if no major flaws are present.

Both are full hollowbodies with a single Venetian (rounded) cutaway. The AF75 is the 'Std' version, with chrome hardware & solid colors. The A105 is like a 'Custom' model. It's got a natural white-wash flame top, gold hardware, rosewood knobs and tailpiece, & in thickness is between a thinline & a deep hollowbody (ES175). Beautiful. Very comfortable size. Sounds great with a pair of '59's.

Re: Ibanez Artcore

Before I bought my AF75, I played a bunch of hollow and semi-hollow guitars. In the end, I went with the Ibanez because it was the best combination of build quality, price, and unique tone. Since I got it, I have changed out the bridge and totally redone the setup to accomodate the heavy strings and low tuning I prefer.

I like playing this thing with heavy distortion. It can feed back like crazy, even with all the strings muted, but when playing, it handles heavy distortion and fuzz really well. I was considering changing the pickups, but the stock ones are pretty awesome. The only modification I want to do at this point is to take off the chrome-finish pickup covers.

Now that is right up my alley! Got any clips? I'd love to hear it.

Re: Ibanez Artcore

I don't have an AF75, but i did try one out before I bought my Artcore AGS83-BBG. I found it to be a very nice instrument for the money, but kind of a one trick pony. I'm sure it could do jazz or lighter stuff well, but I'm not sure about heavier sounds. I think my AGS83 can do just about anything, and I like it because the body is thinner and easier to play. Back to the AF75 - I think the tone from it is GREAT. I was able to try a few of them locally here, and the blend between acoustic feel/tone and the amplified sound is GREAT STUFF. But for me personally, I just like the AGS83 better since it's more versatile.

And I think the Foo Fighters stuff with Grohl's custom Gibson hollowbody is pretty rockin stuff. I've got a bunch of their cd's here, and always liked their songs and sound overall.

Not tons of gain, mostly volume but yeah how did I not think of Uncle Tedly.

Re: Ibanez Artcore

Had an AF75 and it was cool...but after about a month...the binding and fingerboard started to separate...soon after...I separated myself from the guitar.
