Im thinking about buying this Ibanez Destroyer II DT-50 mid 80's, i havent got the price yet but I was told it will be about $180 USD.
The guitar has one Nickel Plated PAF and some breed of dimarzio super distortion bridge. It has a tuneomatic bridge, 2 vol controls and 1 one tone and a three way switch. Its finished in black and has a slightly thicker than Wizard neck. It was made in the japanese factory and It sounds absolutely amazing through an Orange stack.
I guess its a toss up between this one and and an Ibanez Explorer from about the same era, in a beautiful wood grain finish with gold hardware and EMG pickups, I dont know how this one sounded though. The explorer was priced about $350 USD.
I also came across a beaten up unbranded start copy with an unlicensed floyd rose style locking trem. I read the tuners "made in japan", turns out it was made in the nagoya factory. However somebody had ripped off the locknut and replaced it with a plastic piece of ****! The pup switch was bent and the strap buttons were ripped out, suprisingly the finish wasnt too bad.Though i could easily fit a new lock nut, i dont think it would be worth my $60 USD for the guitar. Actually it probably would be, but i dont have the time at the moment.
So please, give me your opinions on the Destoryer II and Explorer, which would be a better choice. Sound quality, reliability etc.
